Historic Midwest Blizzard Has Farmers Seeing "Massive Crop Losses...As Devastating As We've Ever Seen"According to the USDA, only 15 percent of all U.S. corn and only 14 percent of all U.S. soybeans had been harvested as of October 6th. So that means that the vast majority of our corn and the vast majority of our soybeans were exposed to this giant storm, and the losses are going to be off the charts. Coronagraphs onboard the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) saw a cloud of debris (a CME) billowing over the edge of the solar disk. [ link to spaceweather.com (secure)] This CME will not hit Earth. It was launched from the farside of the sun, and the debris is therefore heading away from our planet. Sorry, auroraphiles! What exploded? Probably not a sunspot. Sunspots are rare now because of an ongoing deep Solar Minimum. More likely, the source was an unstable filament of magnetism that whip-lashed in the sun's atmosphere, hurling surrounding gas into space. We can't say for sure, however, because the blast site was hidden behind the edge of the sun. [ link to spaceweather.com (secure)] ~*Ride the Wave*~ |

When we look for patterns between quakes at long distances, we see triggering for ~3x length of the fault. The fault length in a M4.5 is less than 1 km.
Dr. Lucy Jones ✔ @DrLucyJones Today's M4.8 near Hollister is at the "creeping section of the San Andreas fault". It historically has many M4-5 quakes and creeps without quakes. It is not accumulating strain like other parts of the San Andreas. |

Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Re: Earthquake Thread ~ Always Updated Hey all...almost through the day thata shall not be names, as IM says! Not too bad a day, but still very sad. Great grandbaby has been with her foster family for 12 nights now. It breaks my heart. Here's the update: Baby S, as I'll call her, is fine and in good health. Had some bad photos taken of her, but nothing physical done. Thank God. We've completed the required background checks and provided all info required, but it may be another week or two before we can get her back. UNLESS... My attorney is filing for an Emergency Hearing before the District Judge we saw last year to try to force them to give Baby S to us before the end of the month. I'll let you know when we head to court. Thank you for all your prayers and good wishes. I'm trying to have patience and let the situation resolve, but patience is my short suit. And I miss her. I haven't seen her for about a month now. I just hold on to the fact that it looks like I'll get full, undivided guardianship, because the incidents that caused all this happened at the other great grandma's house on multiple occasions. And even though the mother is in jail, and will probably be for a long time, they are blaming the great grandma for negligence. So we shall see... Love you all...and am trying to read in bits and fits so I don't get too far behind. I appreciate all of you more than you can know. Coming here is my quiet space...my place of peace. It helps me keep my sanity. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77799417 Your patience might feel short and I'm sure every day the baby is in foster care seems like an eternity, however, I think you are making a lot of progress in a very short time! Seriously, you are on top of this and are getting shit done! I have faith this will resolve soon, and to your benefit (and the baby's of course). Hang in there Granny! |

We’re quite the bunch. I’ve had a relapse of bad gastrointestinal stuff leftover from the horrible c diff infection 18 months ago. No idea what brought it on. Multiple levels of pain/discomfort. Beginning to mend I hope now. Going into week three!! Ugh. Prayers up for all of us.
Quoting: Isis One Damn Isis, sorry to hear these issues have returned. I hope you are on the mend as you say, and back to 100% soon! Quoting: KickinIt I feel MUCH better already. Thank you KickinIt. I hadn’t remembered to get Aloe Vera until yesterday. Four or five spoonfuls of the gel and I’m feeling like myself again. Hope it sticks! Quoting: Isis One Funny you mentioned this. I've been meaning to get some for daily use. I know it's good for the gut and I have GERD and related pH issues that flare up. I keep forgetting to order it though, but last weekend my pH had been feeling off, and when I was getting groceries I found an aloe drink in the health food section, so I thought I'd try it. Specifically I got this one: [ link to alodrink.com (secure)] I have to tell you, I felt a difference quickly. And although some people hate pulp in their juices, I tend to like it and in this case I loved the chunks of aloe pulp, which is only going to add to any healing properties. And it was delicious and not overly sweet! They aren't cheap so I'd rather just do a shot or two of pure aloe juice in the long run on a daily basis, but be on the lookout for these things and give 'em a try. |
