I am so impressed with GLP earthquake coverage, I wouldn't even be surprised to see someone posting during an earthquake... and someone else replying before it finishes, "link?"

Seriously, how many memes do you think this community could post during an earthquake??

hi

Years ago we had a member here from Alaska (AKObserver) who posted regularly and one night while she was posting a 5+ hit near her location. She definitely reported it first lol. No link was needed. : )

We have LOTS of memes in here haha!

Happy Friday Quakesters!

I hope you all have a great weekend!

My eldest get married tomorrow and it is going to be a Nestor induced washout...tons of rain and high winds. Bummer for him and his bride, but they say rain on your wedding is good luck. A tropical storm must mean GREAT luck.

Historic Midwest Blizzard Has Farmers Seeing "Massive Crop Losses...As Devastating As We've Ever Seen"

According to the USDA, only 15 percent of all U.S. corn and only 14 percent of all U.S. soybeans had been harvested as of October 6th.

So that means that the vast majority of our corn and the vast majority of our soybeans were exposed to this giant storm, and the losses are going to be off the charts.

Best be stocking up before the prices soar!
 Quoting: justanothergranny

Agreed. This week, Trump was touting the $50+ billion increase in food exports to China, including soybeans, wheat and pork. Problem is, the more we export, the less we will have here at home and the higher the prices will climb. Prices are already high here in Middle Tennessee. Today at Kroger, I saw that a pound of Oscar Mayer bacon is now $11. That's insane. I needs my bacon. blink

Most of the countries that were net exporters are now net importers. There's not enough food to go around. China was talking tough and said they would stop buying from the US and go elsewhere. They found out quickly that no other producers can can meet their needs.

Since the Spring floods (and reports of other losses around the globe), I've been planning on food prices doubling (at a minimum) by the end of this year. When the reality of the poor harvests sets in (and USDA can no longer fudge the numbers), panic buying and skyrocketing prices will follow. Time to stock the pantry and basement if you haven't already.

 Quoting: Zeke38

Have been slowly restocking some of the supplies we've been using up. Have to clean out the freezers and start watching for meat sales. I think our regular bacon is about $5 a pound, and other meat is going up every time I'm in the store.

We're planning another greenhouse - the last one lasted about 4 years. If we can get it framed and covered, I'll be adding a heating system, and plan to get started with cooler weather plants. And will be able to start seeds early next spring. I'm not up to the garden I used to have - 15 rows, 75 ft long. And am going to do raised beds for just about eveything. This old body doesn't bend as well as it used to!

Now I didn't feel this last night, but right around this time the winds picked up very strangely out of no where. To the point they were opening and closing my french door windows. So strange.
