I need to try your caramels! Quoting: Simple27 Speaking of caramels, I didn't make it to the 'class' today, but my parents went lol! My mom said she brought home a few caramels for me. And notes on how he makes them! Pace yourself woman, as best you can. I know it's creeping up super fast! I haven't even started shopping and have no clue what to get anyone this year. So I understand the pressure of timing for sure! That's awesome your mom went to the caramel class! And she took notes! Yeah, I had a moment of panic this weekend upon realizing I only had one more weekend to get stuff done. For some reason I was thinking I had 2 more, probably because there's 2 more weekends before Xmas. But I say I only have 1 more weekend because I have to ship goodies and presents to my family who are all out of town, so I have to have my shit together by the 18th or 19th every year for shipping purposes. And then of course I didn't get all the chocolate-ing done yesterday. But I reminded myself last night that I panic every year, but every year I get it done. So I just have to trust that I will again. And if I don't, it's not the end of the world. Hope you're home remodeling is coming along okay! |

FAR from it, I don't know what I was thinking! Took me all day just to get all the caramels done, although those do take a bit longer and there are a lot of 'em. I stopped because I was at a good stopping point with everything, but now I still have to do both kinds of truffles at some point this week. That's about 300 balls total! Still not sure if I will go, since it is at the same time as the crucial game of my football team AJAX vs Valencia. Deadline decision. And on Wednesday I have a job interview for a job about one hour drive from me. Most likely with 25 other applicants, but at least it is a talk. Hopefully it works out. Would be a nice Christmas present. Keep your fingers crossed for me ;-) Love to all Hey that's great about the writing contest! Good luck at your interview. I'm sure you interview well and are prepared, so all I can say there is just be yourself. They will like you no matter what (can't see how they wouldn't), so it all comes down to what they are looking for. You can't control that, so just go and interview THEM and see if they are a match for you. Also, good luck to Ajax! Last Edited by KickinIt on 12/09/2019 06:36 PM |

Quoting: joinca Mysterious seismic signals lead to some scientific detective work snip As someone who analyzes unknown seismo-acoustic signals all over the world to monitor for natural and human-made explosions, understanding how signals behave and tracking them back to their source is critical to that effort. Almost all of the hundreds of thousands of signals recorded each year on sensors worldwide are innocuous. [link to blogs.scientificamerican.com (secure)] [link to twitter.com (secure)] :peeweeomg: Interesting, and nice to know someone stuck with it to figure it out. From the article for those who didn't read: This, plus the absence of observed surface (rolling) waves, told me that a near-ground explosion was likely. This spurred me to look at facilities nearby that could be creating them. One of them caught my eye: the Army Ammunition Plant, in McAlester, Oklahoma. Could the plant be destroying old ammunition by detonating it? As the Magic-8 Ball sometimes tells us, “signs point to yes.” And in this case, the Magic 8-Ball would have been correct. I requested records from McAlester and confirmed that they were indeed detonating old ammunitions in a timed sequence. |

We have 5 different strains now to grow! I'm excited but also nervous because the next grow is gonna be a big one. Not two plants at a time. We're gonna attempt 10 plants! On top of the 2 that are already growing. That's our legal limit, 12 total plants. For strains we have: Critical Purple Gorilla Glue Hindu Kush Northern Lights Tangerine Dream I like a good challenge I'm familiar with the Gorilla Glue, which I experienced on a trip to L.A. once. I recall only good things :) Also good if you can find it: White Widow. That was actually the strain I had in Amsterdam that was the best I've ever had. Still to this day. The Northern Lights I also first had there as I mentioned to you when you started your plants, but I got them mixed up because it was the WW that I really loved. The NL was a good experience for me but my friend responded to it differently and was so high she couldn't move from her chair for about an hour. At one point I kept talking and talking and talking, and she looked at me and said firmly, "it's taking everything I have to remember to blink right now". So I left here there (she was in eyesight) and roamed around the bar and met people from all over the place! Japan, England, Sweden. Man, that was a fun trip. I LOVED the people there, they were wonderful. It sure would be fun to plan a trip there together and visit Mezzo! |
