Sorry. I thought you were born in 59 - which means you would have turned 60 in 2019. I will be 61 in March, so 60 for 3 months still in this new year.

I misunderstood you - apologies.

Time to disappear again

Pulls you back in where you belong. You are still 60 now, so that counts too. It's all in fun anyway. 61 is the new 41 as well. ;-) 2020 will be another MAGA year. Make Angel Great Again. hugs

And way to many messages from me again today. Sorry Sim, don't mean to derail the thread. Delete the big messages if you want. I will contain myself from posting to much non eq related stuff -> new year resolution.

One more card for everyone, female and male to wish you Happy New Year for the last time:

Well, I'm a full official employee - the first official employee of the company I've been doing contract work for since April. It was always the end game for me to eventually become an official employee. But it takes time for stuff like fully funding the company, planning, etc. Talk about ground-floor awesomeness.

However, today was a horrible shitshow of running around trying to find a notary for employee paperwork, since everything is remote and the laws are different for notaries in California (of course), so they require a different type of specialist legal notary.

And the new laws for websites and everything are going to be a shitstorm. I'm glad people are fighting back against unreasonable and unrealistic expectations of being able to police every single byte of data. Hopefully we win. I get the reasoning behind the laws - people don't want their data sold without knowing where it's going. But there has to be a better solution than this.

The problem is the effect of the CCPA on the gig economy. While they're trying to target Uber and Lyft, in reality the CCPA laws are causing disastrous results for every single contract worker around, especially for employers who do not want to adhere to them. I lost a client already because I was strictly a contractor and managing special client projects for them. But, they're dumping all contractors instead of making them employees. *shrug* Oh, well.

Thankfully none of my sites meet the 3-part test requirements for CCPA...yet...!!!

I did go to bed early, as I didn't get much sleep the previous two nights, I guess maybe my body was battling it coming on or something. So my wife gave me two trazadone, and I had a few beers, and I think I was out by 9 pm! I didn't like the trazadone, just too much. One would have been all that was needed.
 Quoting: bigD111

Trazadone is powerful stuff, you probably should not be taking that without a prescription. Of course, I'm no doctor but I've encountered many who were prescribed it. Most don't like it. It's so strong it lingers into the next day and you feel really out of it. I can't believe you took 2! Sip some nyquil or take some melatonin instead. And lay off the hay bales and allow yourself to rest for a day so you can get rid of this bug!

Congrats. You're lucky, usually all that talk about "oh, we just need to get our funding together" is a bunch of bullshit. Glad you actually got what you were promised. As you said, most companies are getting rid of contractors not hiring them - and that's always been the norm. My good friend has been a F/T contractor somewhere for 2 years with the promise from the start that he would ultimately be hired as a F/T employee. He just lost his job at the end of the year. Said they now have a rule they can't have contractors over 2 years, but yet they somehow can't afford to hire him yet after 2 years either (even though they will likely hire a new contractor in his place). Bunch of lying assholes. It wasn't him, he had great reviews and they loved him - his boss and other coworkers are trying to help him find something elsewhere.

Anyway, point being, you are lucky and one of the few that has seen your employer actually deliver on their original promise.

Yum, Chinese one night Korean the next. Let me know what you think of the shortribs!
 Quoting: KickinIt

Pretty good. I think I should have asked butcher for the English cut. They cut the fat off. I cut it myself and they were yummy. I love the sauce on the rice as much as the beef!
 Quoting: Isis One

What cut did they give you? Not the flanken style I hope. The fat needs to be there, of course, which typically isn't a problem. Sounds like the butcher butchered your short ribs!
 Quoting: KickinIt

It wasn’t too bad. I just remember last time there was more meat and not so much fat. It was $14 for four 3” ribs.
 Quoting: Isis One

IMO they are fatty on the whole, that's why they're so darn rich. But some ribs are more fatty than others and I have gotten a few duds in my time that were mostly fat. If I see one is particularly fatty I will trim some of the fat down, and also try to take that membrane off the one side. I can't remember exactly what I paid for mine this year, but it was NOWHERE near what you paid. I think I paid $5.99/lb?? $14 for 4 ribs is too much!

JMA raises alert level for Kirishimayama (Shinmoedake) volcano, Japan [link to dlvr.it] #volcano #eruption #Alert #Kirishimayama #Shinmoedake

 Quoting: Luisport

Interesting, that volcano is located on the southern tip of Japan. I initially thought maybe this volcano is the reason Japan's had such an uptick in quakes, but I looked into it and the majority of the recent EQ activity has been in the upper 2/3 of the country. Only a few quakes anywhere near that volcano since mid December.

Here's a map of the Japan EQs for the past 3 weeks (it's USGS, so there are even more than they acknowledge). The two white dots on the bottom left of the country are where the volcano is.
