Agreed! On 9-11, I hadn't left for work when I saw the Good Morning America folks say a plane had hit. I never left that day - called my assistant and told her if anyone needed me to call me at home. When the second plane hit I called hubby screaming - took him a while to understand what I was trying to say! THen when the EQ hit Japan, I was sitting up looking at 'stuff' on the computer when I saw a news flash about the EQ. I went upstairs and woke up my sone who had moved home for a bit. He had been stationed in Japan for a while. I had read historical accounts of tsunamis, but to see one in real time was gut wrenching! So many videos of people trying to reach safety!

On another note - the 3.9 EQ in W TX. I have noticed that the EQ's in that area have been getting stronger and more frequent. Nearly all previous EQs have been south of Pecos. Was wondering if something bigger was coming and sure enough saw this one. However - it's in a little different area. I know everyone says they're from fracking, but people need to know that there is a fault line that runs through the area and there have been EQs there in the past. Just not as many or as frequently since the fracking started. Also, there are some geological reports (I'll see if I can dig any of them up) that have been done in the past few years because there has been a pretty drastic shift along the fault - roads and fencelines moved, and in some cases lifted. The good news is that this area is so sparsely populated that impacts on people are minimal. I'll check to see if any of the oil companies post any drone footage after this larger quake. I know they send them, as well as small planes, up to check for damage to pipelines - required to do so on a regular basis.

I can't ever make out the time on these - is that 1:28 am?? If so, I was still struggling to get to sleep when the buzzing in my ears (normal) went off like someone had turned the volume up all the way! It was almost painful. Started to diminish after about 3 or 4 minutes. But I didn't actually feel the EQ.

I'm about 100 miles east of there. I've never felt any of the far west EQ's, but a couple that happened to the east of me - about the same distance - I have actually felt. Fans would sway, a faint rattle in the house. Wonder why we can feel the ones to the east but not to the west???

Thanks for sharing this granny! Fracking is the new go-to for a lot of EQ's these days, and although many are caused by fracking in some states, not all of them are.
