Hey KickIn, mister & IM - I'm a died-in-the-wool 80's rocker. Well, age-wise, I rocked in the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's! But I'm particularly fond of 80's music. I have my truck radio set to 80's music, so I enjoy riding around! I was an original MTV fan - played it loud enough the windows rattled. Really have fun playing good tunes and dancing with Baby S - she LOVES to dance. Anyway, glad to know my computer friends love some of the same things I do!!!

Doing well, I guess. Have had some up & down emotions today. Actually went shopping at 4 stores - Office Depot, Walgreens Drug Store, Natural Grocers, and Tractor Supply. Had to stand in line at Tractor Supply for about 4 minutes. Walked right in to the others - hardly anybody there. Wore my mask and gloves, and used my hand sanitizer when I came out. Felt really strange and off - so few people out! But strangely, there were a number of people NOT wearing masks, especially at Natural Grocers. These are folks who supposedly believe in good health. Oh well, I mask & glove up for my own peace of mind.

The weather is awesome! A bit windy today, but temps for rest of week are in upper 80's to mid 90's. Have almost everything planted for the garden. When done, we'll have 34 rows that are 50' each, another area that's 20'x20', and a fenced garden with some raised beds and regular rows about 40' long. There will be about 4 or 5 of us sharing in the work and harvest. I'm going to get a freeze-dryer. My sister and I will split the cost, but it will give us an extra means for long-term storage for the veggies: okra, green beans, pinto beans, black-eyed peas, tomatoes, onions, peppers, carrots, spinach, lettuce, kale, radishes, potatoes (red & russet), sweet potatoes, beets, zucchini, yellow squash and herbs. So if I'm not on sometimes, it's because I probably collapsed into the bed when I got in the house!

I'm also cleaning up & rebuilding the greenhouse I let grow into disrepair. Finding lots of muscles I haven't used in a while!!!

Hope you had a good break time, WA. How is Mandy? Did the time away help her? I think of her often, and say a little prayer every time. For you, too!

That garden sounds wonderful, but definitely a lot of work. Nice idea to have help and share in the wealth it produces.

Yes, wear a mask and gloves and do what feels right for you! It is weird going out and not seeing a lot of people or cars on the road. At the same time, it's rather nice. I zip on/off the highway and in/out of stores quickly. I can't lie, I like things about it.

I agree. Something else I've noticed - at some of the places we've gone for drive-thru pickup after ordering online - the people we've talked to have been extremely friendly and personable. Way more than ones we've dealt with face-to-face in pre-virus times. I think most people are discovering the value of human interface. Always an exception or two, but for the most part people have been a pleasure to deal with.

That garden sounds so very awesome. I really miss gardening, it is so fulfilling.

No. It only did us some good. She doesn't want to be here but can't afford to move out. Her job didn't put her on the schedule, so no work, likely lost the job after walking out on 4/20. No work, no money to move out. Doesn't want to work anyway. Hates it all.

Enough of that. Hope all have a good one.

Love this! I'm an original MTV gal too. I have very vivid memories of when it first went on the air! I remember waiting until certain bands' new videos made their debut. And then after you saw it, you'd keep watching non stop so you could see it again. I probably have watched the Thriller video about 1000 times.

Yes!
The 80s on 8 and Hair Nation are go-to stations.

I love good music from all of those decades as well, but the 80s were my formative years...they hold a special place in my heart.

I remember being an MTV junkie as well. It was cheesy as hell at first, but some artists REALLY upped their game and expanded the medium.

Been a really shaky day in central Idaho. 15+ 2.7-3.7 aftershocks based on USGS feed. feed lists a 3.7 followed by a 3.6 about 21 seconds later, here's the graph from Salmon.

IKR? I slept in today and am just lounging in bed reading GLP. Haven’t even made it out to the kitchen for coffee yet or the phone in the living room. Felt so good. Fun vivid dreams when I sleep late like that. Even the cat is curled up on the bed. He was born feral so he’s usually outside all day, and night!
 Quoting: Isis One

sounds like a great start to your day! You mentioned it's gloomy weather there, that does help with sleeping in. I think that's why I slept later than usual yesterday.

How’s your weather today? Whatever you have usually works it’s way up here.
 Quoting: Isis One

Well, we had a fair amount of rain, which I think is what you have now. Started overnight Wed. and continued for half the day yesterday. Today it's sunny and 73 - perfect! Although rain and possibly storms early this evening, which will continue into tomorrow. Grass and everything else around here is super green though, so that's a plus.

Ohio is on the periphery of the New Madrid Seismic Zone, an area in Missouri and adjacent states that was the site of the largest earthquake sequence to occur in historical times in the continental United States. Four great earthquakes were part of a series at New Madrid in 1811 and 1812. These events were felt throughout the eastern United States and were of sufficient intensity to topple chimneys in Cincinnati. Some estimates suggest that these earthquakes were in the range of 8.0 on the Richter scale

Yea ! Our governor lifted some of her more ridiculous quarantines, like garden centers / landscape / lawn people.
Son has four houses + a warehouse he has had to mow, as well as overtime quarantine work dealing with the GM imploding suppliers. She extended state quarantine until May 15.
