I heard about this on the news here the other day. My area is not included in this, but we are supposed to have a return in 2024. OMG I hate cicadas. During one year they came back I had to attend an outside wedding that summer! I was on high cicada alert the entire time and stayed close to the fans so they wouldn't get near me.

After 17 Years of Siesta, Millions of Cicadas Are About to Invade Parts of the US

May will see the return of millions of cicadas of the genus Magicicada that have been biding their time underground for 17 years.

The brood emerging in 2020, called brood XI, hasn’t been seen since 2003.

The tsunami of brood XI spells a noisy few weeks for Southwest Virginia, North Carolina, and West Virginia as the males sing to find themselves a female.

Periodical cicadas are one of the noisiest insects on Earth, creating a vibrating sound using membranes on the side of their body to kick up a racket that can reach over 90 decibels, about the level of a lawnmower.

With as many as 1.5 million cicadas expected per acre in the above-mentioned states, residents should steel themselves for an earful.

@hobeets

7 years ago, a record deep M 8.3 #earthquake occurred under the Sea of Okhotsk. The quake was felt across Asia, but did not cause damage. It is also an example of a large earthquake that occurred with a Earth-Mercury-Venus alignment, similar to the alignment yesterday.

@hobeets

Seismic activity this morning in Canada. Interesting detail: on 3 November 2002 when Earth was also aligned with Venus and Mercury a M 7.9 occurred in Central Alaska. Hopefully a similar seismic event won't repeat this time, but the potential is certainly there.
