The quake was felt across Asia, but did not cause damage. It is also an example of a large earthquake that occurred with a Earth-Mercury-Venus alignment, similar to the alignment yesterday. Interesting detail: on 3 November 2002 when Earth was also aligned with Venus and Mercury a M 7.9 occurred in Central Alaska.
