Earthquake Thread ~ Always Updated

Good evening all! Hope everyone is well!

Had a busy few days here. 6/2 is hubby's 80th b'day. Baby S turned 2 on the 22nd, and daughter turned 43 on the 26th. So....I planned our first family get-togther for yesterday. Was supposed to be held at a local city park so we could spread out and the kids could play (grown-ups too). Shopped and got food to bbq, gifts, etc. Then find out yesterday about 2 hours before we were meeting, that Antifa from San Antonio was coming to town and we would have protests. Confirmed it through a LEO friend, so ended up having everyone here to my house. We sat around on the driveway, had bbq, exchanged gifts, and had a great time. Hard not to hug everyone, but we tried to be safe & good. Then, after all but daughter and her family had left, she went inside...and found a fire going on my stove - nearly burning up to the overhead cabinets!!! Luckily son-in-law grabbed an extinguisher and put it out. Had a mess, but it's pretty much cleaned up now. Bad part was that when I called 9-1-1, they didn't answer because of overload from the protests!!!

Am sorry to hear that people are cancelling their accounts here, but understand the upset over how some folks post ugly and hateful stuff. I truly think we're climbing a steep hill towards a really ugly time, and it shows in the hate and rudeness and ugliness that shows up on other threads here. Breaks my heart. But makes me really appreciate the community and care and concern we have here.

I am more than willing to share contact info with Simple, so that if times get tougher we can at least keep in contact. Just to know that all of you are safe & sound. Glad that WA checked in - was getting concerned to not see posts! Used to have your info, WA, but don't think I do anymore! At any rate, I'll PM Simple and give her mine.

Please be careful and safe, everyone! We truly are in dangerous times, and may be dealing with individuals who have no other motive other than to slash and burn - and we will be targets. You are all such good people, and I care about all of you!

Finally got a filet mignon to taste like it does at the restaurant tonight! And also learned how to make carmelized mushrooms. OMG, it was so good. Some mashed potatoes and I coulda sworn I was at Ruth Chris, lol!
P.S. neighbors sent a slice of chocolate birthday cake over!

Congrats on the successful dinner! It sounds delicious. Plus the surprise dessert delivery!

I wish my neighbor would bring me some chocolate cake LOL! My neighbors are funny. The Vietnamese couple who live next door must be volunteering/working for the school department passing out lunches. All of the schools here pass out free lunches Monday-Friday for families who relied on those lunches to feed their children when schools were open. I'm guessing the people passing out the lunches get to take home anything that's leftover because every single day my neighbor comes over with bags of leftovers for us. This has been going on now for weeks lol! We've just started trying to deny the goods, but unsuccessfully haha! We have SO many little school milk cartons, sandwiches (we won't eat those so they get tossed - they're gross) and tons of apples! The apples make it worth it. There's 1-2 bags of apples daily. We have so many that Nef decided he's going to bake an apple pie today just to use some up. Today we got a bag of pears!

They're cute, my neighbors. We manage to communicate with them even though they hardly speak any English. They are very sweet.

This year just won't quit.
