Re: the purple toilet syndrome.
Apparently quite a common thing, perhaps a medication or supplement changes the body's metabolism,
but, this comment was interesting,,,about Lysol tabs used in two toilets, but not the third toilet,,,and it was the two toilets with the Lysol tabs clipped on, that this occurred on...........apparently only reacts with certain people's body chemistry....
Also, I wonder about the toilets that are cleaned with Lysol disinfectant sprays or other similar products???
quote:
My reasoning: I believe it may be a combination of things as I have 3 toilets (all basically the same (wood coated seats etc) and used by all the same people... BUT ONLY 2 of them are experiencing the smurf-butt effects... The common denominator in the two toilets is that they both have Lysol automatic bowl cleaners clipped under the rim of the bowl.
I suspect that the pleasant smelling vapor the cleaning compounds emitted from this little hard tablet are interacting with chemicals/oils/hygine products/body chemisty/ (etc.) residue that is left on the seats after use. -and yes it may be only one person in the family that contains the critical part of the equation on their rear. but again it can only be 1/2 of the issue, as toilet 3 is perfectly fine.
I have never had this problem in our house before, and it showed up specifically on the two toilets that have the cleaning tablets clipped onto the bowl.
It is a definite bluing, it is most present in areas of rear end contact, it does not wash off.
I suspect that other instances of this phenomenon are also related to a combination of multiple things - such as laundry soap, cleaning products etc AND, health/hormone/drug levels etc... but only when they combine to create the blue staining. This is the reason this problem is not all over the internet - It only happens with the "perfect storm of coincidental combining factors..
I suspect the issue with bed sheets could be the same - given a specific combination of laundry soap or hygine products / body soaps - IN CONJUNCTION with body chemistry
I am still searching for a solution and a primary chemical/compound cause - but there is no doubt in my mind the Lysol tabs (more specifically, the compounds therein) are a MAJOR part of the equation.
