Hope everyone is doing good, great, terrific and even better. Much love to all of you! Hey sweetheart! Hope you are enjoying a great Friday. And.. a relaxing Saturday and a spectacular "KickinIt Special" Sunday ahead! shhh... ;-) I'm so exhausted this morning after 2 nights of bad sleep/waking early I can barely get myself going! Have some errands to do and plans to go to an exhibit at the art museum this evening. Good place to go in a pandemic - lots of space as it is, plus they limit how many are there at a time. Have some friends in town this weekend so there will be a gathering or two with them. Not sure how that's going to work, there's nowhere to go really (most places only outdoors), and it's going to be hot as hell outside. His mom has a pool, but again, I really have no desire to be outside, plus she tends to have a lot of people in/out at her place. Might lay low Sunday if I don't see them then, it's going to be 100 degrees here and I have a feeling I will be spent all things considered. I would like to keep Sunday quiet if you get my drift. |

(OP) User ID: 40488826 United States 07/17/2020 01:30 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I hear ya Arnie, I am so tired. Another crappy night of sleep, and the bags under my eyes prove it. Went to bed later than normal since I have the day off today, then proceeded to wake up at 6:30am and failed to go back to sleep. It's the worst. Sorry you're going through it too. I'm glad you have today off so at least you can relax. I laid in bed staring at the back of my eyelids until 4:00/4:30am before finally falling asleep. Awful. ~*Ride the Wave*~ |

(OP) User ID: 40488826 United States 07/17/2020 01:34 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Deep repeating earthquakes beneath Mauna Kea Quoting: KickinIt A study published in the journal Science in May, 2020 describes how they detected deep earthquakes beneath Mauna Kea that repeat every 7–12 minutes. Noise in the seismic records from wind and nearby cars, together with the small size of the individual earthquakes (magnitude 1.5), had prevented these earthquakes from being detected with the regular earthquake detection system. The small, repeating earthquakes occur at depths of about 20–25 km (12–15 mi) directly beneath Mauna Kea's summit and happen every 7–12 minutes with surprising regularity. Furthermore, the repeating events can be detected going back to at least 1999. Where regular earthquakes produce more high frequency shaking, the Mauna Kea events are more drawn out, containing lower frequencies. This implies that regular slip on a fault is not responsible for the deep Mauna Kea events. Low-frequency earthquakes aren't unusual at volcanoes, but there's no other example of this kind of repetition or longevity anywhere in the world.
