Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Re: Earthquake Thread ~ Always Updated Here's How to See Comet NEOWISE Just After Sunset - It Won't Be Seen Again for Another 6800 Years
For those hoping to see Comet Neowise for themselves, here’s what to do:
Find a spot away from city lights with an unobstructed view of the sky.
Just after sunset, look below the Big Dipper in the northwest sky.
If you have them, bring binoculars or a small telescope to get the best views of this dazzling display.
Each night, the comet will continue rising increasingly higher above the northwestern horizon. [ link to www.youtube.com (secure)] Quoting: Simple27 We’ve had clouds for days. No visuals for me. Those who have me on fb, I shared a pic a birding friend took of it. Amazing |

Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Re: Earthquake Thread ~ Always Updated It's the worst. Sorry you're going through it too. I'm glad you have today off so at least you can relax. I laid in bed staring at the back of my eyelids until 4:00/4:30am before finally falling asleep. Awful. Quoting: Simple27 Thanks Simple. Insomnia is almost worse. Nothing more frustrating than laying there not sleeping at all. I fall asleep quickly, but I tend to get restless sleep. Wake up a lot briefly, then fall back asleep. But for some reason the last two days I have woken up so early in the morning, and once it's daylight there's pretty much no chance of me falling back asleep. It sucks! I hope we both have a better night tonight! Quoting: KickinIt Try some tea, calming kind if you have it - regular if not, about 30 minutes before bed, a little milk added if you can stand that. It is the little milk that helps relax you enough to fall asleep. Shuts your mind off. Doesn't always work but my mom swore by it. Then again she swore by warm milk before bed too. I've had sleep issues since I was a teen. Since the CPaP machine, it is a little better but not perfect. No magic bullet with that thing, lol Quoting: WhiteAngel Thanks for the input. I have a lot of nighttime teas, and I do use them (more in the winter). They don't help, because my problem isn't falling asleep. It's getting deep/restful sleep and waking early. I'm hoping it's something that will magically fix itself over time. Unfortunately I'm only getting older, and sleep quality diminishes over time so there's not much I can do about it. |

I saw it!!! Through some light clouds, but still saw it! Outside of that tower is THE perfect spot. Tomorrow night is supposed to be clear so I'm going back for a better view. I somehow got a pic through the clouds. Not a great pic, but this is my first comet pic so I'm proud of it lol. [ link to imgur.com (secure)] ~*Ride the Wave*~ |

Quoting: KickinIt I could see it naked eye even through light clouds! Nef had a hard time seeing it at first but he too spotted it in between some of the clouds. It was faint, but I knew what it was the second I spotted it. We were up at the tower from 9:30-10:30 watching it play peek-a-boo through the clouds lol. The tail is also naked eye visible. The Big Dipper is an excellent starting point when trying to see the comet. The comet is under the Big Dipper. Northwest sky. I'm glad to know I should see it without binoculars. I felt like if I had to seek for it with binoculars I'd probably never find it. I was aware it's right below the big dipper. Problem is, at the time it will appear here I won't be able to see all the stars yet. As it is, with all the lights around me I don't see all the stars anyway. |
