My cousin was married twice, 3 kids from 1st and one from 2nd. The estranged wife, that only came back in his life (2nd marriage) to take care of him, not only didn't get in touch with Jay's sister, she didn't even contact his children about his death. Quoting: WhiteAngel Then she made an obit, posted it in his real home town and only mentioned his last daughter and herself. Oh and a half brother that Jay barely knew. Then stated they would have ha small graveside ceremony and no one was expected to attend. Needless to say, everyone is upset. Two of his kids are flying out there, even though they had to get flights today (they didn't know till I reached out), several of Jay's friends from school years are all there now. They will all meet before and got to the cemetery together, arm and arm and dressed how my cousin always dressed, jeans, flannel shirt, bb cap. They will be carrying flowers, something the weird wife said wasn't needed. There will be a statement made. I wish I could go for I wouldn't be silent about the snubbing for Jay's family and friends. How can people be so friggin cruel????? Sometimes there is no explanation for people's behavior Angel. And it has no use to even put energy in that at one point. What is more important is that you acted and made sure his friends and family are there and he gets a proper goodbye. You did great sweetheart. That indeed made be feel better. Love you my cousin!! Isaiah 5:20 KJV Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! How can people be so friggin cruel????? I'm sorry to hear this WA. I swear some people just have zero empathy, or even the ability to have any. That makes this harder than necessary for you and your family. :( My uncle did something similar at Papa's service. He left my 2 sisters completely out of his lengthy speech which highlighted his own children. My dad will never forgive him for it either. Thinking of you & yours WA. I love you my friend. <3 I love you too and you hang in there with all your trials you are going through. It's about a 40 minute drive so if I bring a hot dish, I will need to be sure to keep it as warm as possible during the ride. Quoting: Simple27 We're making some chicken soup right now which I will bring, but if anyone has any good ideas, please do feel free to share! I'm definitely a rookie in uncharted waters right now. Also with other things. I've gotten him one of those health bracelets that will check his blood pressure, oxygen level, ECG, etc. I've also gotten him a new, cozy bathrobe which I figure will be more comfy than a t-shirt once he's home. Make sure first what his prescribed diet is. Might only be a clear or soft diet to begin with and not anything that would cause too much gas. A thermos would keep the soup hot for awhile. How can people be so friggin cruel????? Everyones got an agenda And rarely think about others Funerals are a breeding ground for awful behavior Don't try and understand, hopefully just move on Every funeral I have been to in my family, have been fine. Now my husband's family? I never went but it was horrible how they fought over belongings, felt slighted about everything. Just nasty. Thank you for your kind words of just moving on.....best advice considering I will never have anything to do with her again.....not hateful, just not part of my life and hadn't been for decades. I think chicken soup is an excellent idea Heart patient in the house is very stressful You will settle in fine One day at a time and keep things chill Be aight I have a KardiaMobile. Got it when they told me I had Afib. This takes EKG's. It might be something you would want as it can be a good tool to see if the heart beat is regular or not and if you pay, it can be monitored to let you know by "live" people if he is having major issues. Btw, did they open him up completely?? I missed if you posted this. I am very clumsy and non practical when it comes to advice like that, I would most likely bring hard boiled eggs and nuts.. [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] Other than that,... SO GLAD to hear he is improving and each day brings him closer to full recovery. Chicken soup is a great idea..also make up a big batch of beef bone broth; great for the minerals in post-surgery times. V8 juice, salted, for the electrolytes (potassium / sodium); or orange/lemon juice, salted. And portions of your meals are a great idea ! Our prayers continue for you both, and whole family.
