I'm actually surprised this is a record. I know it's very early, but I would've guessed that Boston had seen more snow in an October than this.

For days the local news was saying my area would have no accumulation. They said 'flakes in the air' lol. They were very wrong! It's a winter wonderland out there and still coming down!

There's snow on my pumpkins haha!

We got sleet balls and a LIGHT dusting of snow the other day. I had hoped we'd get more. You got enough to make it look pretty!!!

Last Monday at my condo in CO, they had between 30 and 36 inches of snow! One of the residents posted a picture from his from door & used a yard stick to show the depth. The restaurant in town, The Dog Bar & Grill, posted a photo of a bear walking on the top of the balcony railing on their deck - broad daylight - and about 24 inches of snow on the deck. My sister forwarded the picture to me! I've eaten lunch at the table the bear was above!! LOL

Nice that you didn't have to shovel the snow. That's one activity I don't think I'll try!

BTW - your avatar is downright spooky!!!!
Happy Halloween!!!

Happy Friday Quakesters!

I hope you all have a great weekend!

The Damn covid is hitting close to home with some family and some folks close to family coming down with it. One is in the hospital with pneumonia... We are on lockdown.

Mom fell in the shower last night. I'm so glad we moved her in. She could have been stuck for hours if she was still at her house.

anyways...

SOMETHING FLARE-Y THIS WAY COMES: The biggest sunspots of new Solar Cycle 25 appeared this week (AR2778 and AR2779). They're about to have company. Two more active regions are poised to rotate over the sun's eastern limb, circled in this Oct. 30th image from NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory:

https://imgur.com/MMY5oJy

What we're seeing here are plasma-filled magnetic arches of the type that often tower over sunspot groups. The sunspots themselves--if they exist--are still hidden behind the edge of the sun. Solar rotation will bring them into view this weekend. Amateur astronomers with safely-filtered telescopes are encouraged to monitor developments.

I love how they cut that bundt cake to make it into a pumpkin. Genius! It seems it should be obvious looking at it now.

I'm doing a bloody mary horror movie-fest with 3 friends tomorrow. One of whom has a really nice home theater in his basement with big comfy chairs, etc. Starting by noon and going all day. We'll see how many movies I have the patience for. I'm not a huge move watcher to begin with, and I don't think I've ever in my life watched more than 2 in a day. In as much as I like scary movies, I'm looking forward to hanging w/my pals. And having a good bloody mary, which I haven't had in years for some reason. I'm bringing some locally distilled horseradish vodka for the occasion.

Fun fact: Not far across the river from me, Collinsville, Illinois is the horseradish capital of the world (and where my vodka came from). Here's an article about it. You'll be surprised how interesting an article about horseradish can be, lol
