I've been in storms like that before. I wish I was there now. Lightening storms are awe inspiring to me. If that was my way to go, so be it. The best view I ever had was on my motorcycle trying to get back to town, before the storm hit. That didn't work so well, I got stuck right in the middle, lightening was hitting within 300 yards of me on both sides. Were it not for the 60 MPH gusts of cross wind blowing my bike all over the road I would have enjoyed the show a lot more and probably would have been able to hear the thunder. Ultimately had to stop due to hail (tends to sting the forehead a little at highway speeds) and hunker down house just off the road.

They amaze me too! My friend kept saying come on, let's get in the basement! Lol, I was just like "not yet, I've gotta see this!"

chuckle

Only once did I run to the basement due to a storm. I actually posted on this thread about it and posted a video that I took before I fled! Ha!!

 Quoting: Simple27

Only once have I run to basement. It was a storm on father's day 2010. In 15 minutes we went from clear blue skies to all hell breaking loose. I was on my balcony, and the clouds rolled in. Started to rain, then pea sized hail started coming down in less than a minute, in a matter of a couple minutes, at most, it had grown to golf all size. I quickly ran out front and covered the sunroof on my pickup, again hail to the head hurts, about 5 minutes later the hail was baseball to softball size. The wind was blowing so hard that my front door warped a bit and rain came pouring in, it was at that time we ran downstairs.

That's the only time my dog has ever listened to me that well! Told him to come here, quite loudly, and he was on my heals instantly. Another 5 minutes passed. The noise from the hail was so intense, my wife and I had to yell to hear each other and we were sitting next to each other.

Between gusts of wind, we heard the air raid sirens, there was a tornado on the ground about a mile from us. First one in 50 years. Then it all just stopped. Started at 4 PM, by 4:15 we had blue skies again. 8 inches of rain were dumped in that time period, there was water 2 feet deep on some streets downtown (Billings, MT). It ended up being an EF2 tornado, destroyed half a dozen buildings. The hail caused the most damage though. 1000's of houses needed new siding and shingles. My pickup ended up with 6k in damage, but luckily the sunroof didn't shatter. Had that happened the it would have been totaled. I have since moved from Billings, and I am glad we did. They had another hail storm blow through this year and all the houses that had replaced siding and shingles had to do it again.

Wow that's crazy! I just got stuck on YT watching videos from it! Couldn't stop watching all different videos.

shocked
 Quoting: Simple27

There are some good videos of it on there. I'm not too sure about the brain capacity of some of those that were extremely close to the tornado, just standing out in the open, watching things fly through the air. We wouldn't have the videos without them though.

The craziest story I heard was about a homeless guy that hung onto a tree while the tornado blew over. Something/someone was watching out for that man that day!

Storms leave 600,000 without power in Michigan, Illinois
More than 600,000 homes in Michigan and Illinois were left without power after heavy winds and lightning ripped through the northwestern US, killing at least two people, officials said. A woman from Illinois died after sustaining heavy injuries from a falling tree, while a Michigan man was electrocuted after coming into contact with a power line, Reuters reported. Around 350,000 homes were left without power in southeastern Michigan on Saturday, according to DTE Energy Co spokesman Scott Simons. More than 174,000 customers in Illinois were left without electricity after Friday’s storms, the Commonwealth Edison reported.

Hi all!! hi

Been busy dehydrating and dealing with the nasty head cold my kids just wanted to share with their daddy and mommy.

Tomorrow I HAVE to start on plums. My plum tree is dragging on the ground it is so full and that is AFTER I culled about half the plums I could reach 2 months ago and then a month ago. I likely have enough to can 40 jars and dehydrate at least that many prunes. Sheesh!!! Can't waste what the Good Lord Provided for me and mine!!

You got a good one! I have 3 air conditioners at my house. One in my room, one in mini me's room and one not installed currently. The one in my room SUCKS!! Haha!! Keeps it cool enough, but mini me needed the best of the three because her room is upstairs and it gets even hotter up there.

The one in my room is SO loud. Sometimes it wakes me up at night. But it keeps me cool enough. hf
