All is good at the house. No damage and didn't lose power. There's still over 300,000 ppl without power in MA and there was a good amount of damage in other areas of the state. My bunker held up lol. :)

A month ago who would have known where La Palma was. Now it is in not only every day but every minute conversations.
The La Palma threads are panicked because of the continuous cinder cone/volcanic eruption noise that the sizemometers pick up and are over loaded with information to create just a colored blob on the EQ charts. A close sizemometer is not always a good thing in this case.

EARTH-DIRECTED SOLAR FLARES: Sunspot AR2887 is facing Earth and flaring. So far today, Oct. 28th, the active region has produced two M-class solar flares (M1.4 @ 0740 UT; M2.2 @ 10:28 UT). At the Givatayim Observatory in Israel, astronomer Ofer Gabzo happened to be looking when the stronger of the two occurred:

"Conditions were horrible (lots of clouds and haze), but luckily I captured a video right at the peak of an M2-class flare in AR2887," says Gabzo.

Pulses of extreme ultraviolet radiation from the flares ionized the top of Earth's atmosphere, causing brief shortwave radio blackouts centered on the Indian Ocean and, a little later, Africa. Mariners, aviators and ham radio operators in the area may have noticed unusual propagation effects at frequencies below 20 MHz.

We don't yet know if these explosions hurled CMEs toward Earth; tentatively, we'd say not. Confirmation awaits fresh coronagraph data from the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO).

I sure hope that everyone has had the time to read this short PDF of The 1730-1736 eruption of Lanzarote, Canary Islands: a long high-magnitude basaltic fissure eruption.
I know that it sound boring but the information there could apply to La Palma and the current fisher eruption.

Abstract

The eruption that took place in Lanzarote between 1 September 1730 and 16 April 1736 differs from the normal style of the historic (last 500 years) volcanism of the Canary Islands.

You are right about the close seismos for the bigger ones!

After reading wave patterns in all sorts of engineering crap… the top 2 bars on IGN’s site gives a lot more information when one takes into account all that was learned from long term construction low vibrations on humans and buildings over the past decade….

I see a structural slow motion disaster in those constant vibrations. Unfortunately.

CME Update: Imagery courtesy of the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) confirms that a coronal mass ejection (CME), likely of the halo variety is associated and should be directed squarely towards our planet. A Type II Radio Emission with an estimated velocity of 1263 km/s was recorded. An impact past our planet should be expected this weekend and will be good news for aurora sky watchers. This information will be confirmed once updated Earth facing coronagraph imagery is available. Stay Tuned!
