I tried to call about 15 numbers there CAPS, also several neighbors on either side from where he lives, but no answer on either of them. So I am pretty sure that the phone lines are down.

I also located where he is originally from, so sent you email with possible family contacts, maybe you can try and contact them. I don't know if those numbers are still valid. Maybe one of them knows more about his whereabouts.

Sorry I couldn't give a beter answer at the moment, but let's keep our hopes up that he is safe somewhere.

Day was pretty good. Thanks for asking. Getting the hang of it, even though it is still quite a bit of learning in who wants what for breakfast and all that.

And yes, getting to know them more and more. Already had a few visits and talks about all kinds of things that interest them. And some are more to themselves or have more family and friends visiting, so it is also a matter of getting the idea of who needs a little more attention than the other. But we are making the most of it. It will go naturally for sure after a little while.

The organizing is the most intense part of the shift and you really need to learn how to divide your time between the tasks and visiting the people.

But I like it more and more now that I am starting to get a bit more routine in it.

As for the quakes, tomorrow I work the afternoon shift from 2 pm till 9 pm, and I leave around 1.15 pm, so I will try to catch all the EQs till then.

Awesome! These oarfish can get up to 10 feet, even though they did find one that was even 36 feet. You need quite a big living room to eat one, otherwise the table won't fit.

Glad you're enjoying it, sounds like you're settling in quickly. I'm still surprised you have to get them their breakfast or whatever. That seems like a job for a nurse or LPN or whatever they have there. It does take away from being able to be a social support to the residents, which I'm sure many crave.

Just post quakes when you're on here and you have time, no need to worry about it beyond that.

Fun fact: I've read that it's not an edible fish. Because it's a deep sea fish, it's pretty much all fat.

I agree on the social support. I learned they created this job only like two years ago, because there was too much pressure on the nurses there, since most of the residents need extra care, because of their illness or age.

Basically when I break it down, from the six hour shifts, there is mostly about one hour per shift that we can just do some social visits. And for the rest it is a bit of talk when we bring breakfast, do our coffee and tea rounds and serve dinner.

The care system is under a lot of pressure here as well, also budget wise. I asked for 24 hours a week and they were very strict in the 18 hour budget. And our team is only five, spread out over several shifts during the week and weekends, day and evening. So if one gets sick, the others have to fill in. Not to keen on working a lot of extra shifts, but let's see how it develops.
