yep, that's kind of fishy. Unless the whole food court is working off of a common refrigeration system, they would not be using ammonia chillers. I have been in a much larger kitchen then a Subway when a compressor line blew and sent freon out into the kitchen. No smell, customers never knew it happened. I have seen mechanics freeze metal sleeves with straight R404, 502, R22 or R134a right out of the keg. They just used whatever happen to be around. Not a brilliant thing to do, but never got anyone sick either. |

I started listening to the scanners almost 5 hours ago and I heard some crazy things. I also don't believe it would have taken all of those hours to determine the cause had it been the refrigeration system at Subway in the food court. But many will...Lol, oh well, move along now. The high school across the street from me was built years and years ago on marshland. And the school sinks a tiny bit each year. If you look closely you can actually see the angle of it sinking. Fish and Game to Southcentral Alaska residents: ‘Hang onto your birdseed’ Bruce Batten, an Eagle River resident, awoke early Friday, November 7, 2014, to a black bear walking up the stairs to his second-floor porch. It didn't take long for the bear to start munching on the seeds inside Batten's bird feeder. Dave Battle, an assistant area wildlife biologist with Fish and Game, said a mix of mild temperatures and little to no snow has led some bears to hang around for longer than usual. Plus, he said, accessible bird feeders and high-caloric trash don’t exactly encourage a bear to retire for the winter. “It’s most likely to stay out a bit longer, packing in the last calories that it can,” Battle said. What’s ironic about the black bear vs. bird feeder standoff in Eagle River, Batten said, is he used to work for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service before retiring in 1998. He knows the rules, he said. “As we used to say in the Fish and Wildlife Service, ‘Wait until Thanksgiving and then when you eat a bird you can feed a bird,' ” he said pic at link [ link to www.adn.com] Last Edited by AKObserver on 11/12/2014 01:07 AM |
