It's like the weather is 60 days ahead of schedule.
Quoting: JazzyG Well, in 60 days we would be hitting our coldest time of the year here. Those extreme colds we suffered would have been perfect then!!!! Quoting: whiteangel We had Januarys' weather in October and now we're having Februarys' in November. I've noticed the same thing the last two years. Have had to put the garden in sooner and final harvest earlier. The growing season is definitely off here. Ever since the Japan quake. Quoting: JazzyG Ditto. Ours is like we have moved more south. Put the garden in at the end of May and this year it went until the Cold snap at the first of the month. NEVER have I see a garden in this part of the country make it so long. I mean I had peppers and tomatoes still growing November 10th! That was the day the front blew in. It was 65 at 9:30am and by 10:30 it was 32. We weren't above freezing for a week. Now, it is warm again, 63 with a local high of 68. that is just wrong Quoting: whiteangel Well...It's finally cold here! Woke up to +3 Last Edited by AKObserver on 11/27/2014 03:55 PM |

Quoting: Simple27 Quoting: JazzyG It is one of those bittersweet holidays for me. I love my little family but I miss the big get togethers. The older ones are all gone on to that happy feast in the sky. Those left are so spread out and BROKE, that those big Thanksgiving Feasts are a thing of the past - at least for now. |

Woke up to +3 Quoting: AKObserver Now that sounds right for this time of the year. Well, at least 20-30. My family lived in NM between Albuquerque and Gallup. Most Thanksgivings we all headed from AZ and CO to gather up. the years we didn't go, the weather was too bad, closing of mountain passes and no one could travel. Several years we were there and had to add 2-8 days to the holiday because we were all snowed in. Now, for that same area, none of us would have problems getting there for the last 6+ years. Chile and Japan quakes made it even worse and I can't even remember the last time there was much snow on the ground here outside Denver during Thanksgiving. Well, once. |
