Even real cheese. Well, not Kraft Singles. I kinda consider anything not Kraft Singles, a jar, or box real cheese. Although now and then you can't beat melty Velveeta a can of chilli and a can of green peppers for corn chip dip.

Thanks for all the well wishes ! I could lurk, but posting from my tiny phone is worthless. I made it through the treatment and back to home. All the prayers were well answered, I did not suffer one bit !
Worst is over, now just routine treatments for the next few months.

Thank you all !

Home!!! FINALLY.

Exhausted. Very rough week at work coupled with some great game play today (I beat a co-worker at bowling -- we went bowling during lunch and had lunch at the bowling alley -- and another co-worker at ping pong...great times), has me wanting to pass OUT.

And if you don't mind, I am going to direct myself to pass out soon.

NASA Will Pay You Thousands To Stay In Bed For 70 Straight Days. Small group of test subjects to lie in bed for 70 straight days, and will pay them $18,000 to do it. The experiment is meant to simulate extended periods of space travel, wherein the body undergoes extreme atrophy.

I filled out the application. But I don't know what a Modified Air Force Class III Medical Standard is. I'm thinking I'm too fat. Wish me luck. And if you all never hear from me again, you something went wrong.

Well, as I read it. It's not just as simple as you in a bed with a piss bag hooked into you. There is some times to exercise. But it looks as if you still do that laying down. But there does seem to be some free time when not sleeping. I could GLP then. NASA would love that.

Ambulatory Period
During the first 13 days for non-exercising subjects, or the first 21 days for exercising subjects, you will be free to move around inside the bed rest facility and do normal things.

Bed Rest Period
After the first 13 or 21 day period, you will spend 70 days lying in bed, with your body slightly tilted downward (head down, feet up).

Recovery Period
During the final 14 days of the study, you will again be free to move about within the facility. Because of deconditioning that takes place during bed rest, you will slowly begin normal everyday activity. You will participate in the reconditioning activities that are arranged for you during this time.

Read this....this is a first hand account of a test subject.

No thanks! You literally lay in bed, can't even sit up, for 70 straight days. F* That!

NASA Is Paying Me $18,000 to Lie in Bed for Three Months

After the three-week pre-bed rest phase, there was but one mission left: to get in bed and stay there for 70 days. I gathered and arranged all that I could put within arm's reach of my bed. I used a proper toilet one last time. I looked out the window for a final view of the outside world. Then, it was time to go head-down.

Almost immediately, I was fighting the six degree angle. Every time I turned or twitched, I slid toward the headboard and, within a few minutes, was slammed against it with my neck turned sideways. To resist the gravitational pull, I laid as still as possible, but then the back pain began to set in.

I had been warned that back pain and headaches were common during the first few days of bed rest. The spine is not accustomed to remaining horizontal for an extended period, and it takes on the weight of internal organs above. The shift in blood flow to the upper body also increases pressure in the skull--all things that made lying down very, very uncomfortable at first.

Later that day, the nurses brought my first meal in bed: soup.
