Re: Earthquake Thread ~ Always Updated*5.4 Japan*5.2 Gulf of California*5.2 Southern Mid-Atlantic Ridge ~ Pg 20426
For some reason I felt the compulsion to grab two weeks worth of groceries tonight. So I headed to Target for some cheaper groceries.

I was planning on doing this later this week (because of all the comfort out food I needed after last week).

But for some reason on the spur of the moment, I felt the compulsion that it must be done NOW.

Can you just imagine what that poor World Map would
look like if USGS actually ever DID put all the quakes
up? They used to leave a yellow circle (showing a week)
but since the quakes got so numerous they don't do that
anymore.
The World Map doesn't show all the North Mid-Atlantic
Ridge quakes tonight. It's really going off tonight!
cheers

Speaking of which would they even show it on the map if Cascadia let loose? It would be pretty hard to hide...

Re: Earthquake Thread ~ Always Updated*5.4 Japan*5.2 Gulf of California*5.2 Southern Mid-Atlantic Ridge ~ Pg 20426
4.4 Seattle WA. Also a 4.0. That is a good sized one for the area! (note the 4.0 preceded the 4.4) EDIT THESE WERE IN CENTRAL WASHINGTON STATE.

I have progressively watched the quake sizes climb over the years. They went from random 1.0 to 2.0 to 3.0 and now, we are seeing them hit 4..

Up to about 7 months ago, I never seen earthquakes on the Eastern Canada/US border region. Now....I am seeing them weekly. Nor were the ones on the Atlantic ridge very often. Now...they are getting more pronounced and occurring more frequently.

There is definitely a huge uptick in quake activity across the globe.

Quakes in the Turkey region used to be centered on Turkey itself. now they are spreading West.

Quakes in California have moved further inland toward the Salton Sea area and have become more frequent. Also more occurring in Nevada, Utah, Oregon and Idaho and Washington state. There is definitely an uptick in quake activity and the quake areas seem to be moving and growing in size.

Oklahoma has been a constant quake for the last year and a half. New mexico is hit and miss. Most of these areas have long time seismographs in place, but are recording severe uptick in quake activity ramping up in the last 1-2 years.

In addition, the West coast region has been warming and has been subjected to drought conditions in this same time frame. These indicators point to what may be probable heat from below. These quakes may be the precursors to a large volcanic event likely to take place in the coming years somewhere in the Western United States.

Gosh, I wonder if the stuff out west woke me. I moved to the Seattle area years ago and I started having Tsunami dreams this was before I even understood Tsunamis as I was mostly a girl from the Midwest.

I've worried about that area for years.
I keep feeling something big could happen off the coast of Alaska . . .
