Yeah, people don't tend to think that detector units themselves just go bad once in a while. Smoke detectors should be replaced about every 5 years. The sensors get dirty you know, especially if they are the cheap ones.
It also doesn't hurt to have a couple actual fire extinguishers in the house. Check them yearly too. If they are actual real ones, you can get them refilled and maintenance done on them. But if you have those small ones, just toss them every 2 years and get new ones, even if they say they are fine.
I have a big 10 lbs one by the kitchen. It's man sized with the hose and everything. LOL
I keep it right at the end of the kitchen. That way if I ever do need it, I'm already out of the kitchen. And if things go way bad, I can just get out of the house. So, don't keep it under the sink, okay people.
Oh, make sure all your extinguishers are
A B C rated. I forget, but I know if it's
A B C it's good for wood fires, liquid fires and electrical fires. I forget what A B and C stand for, just make sure it's rated with all three.
