Did you see the thread about EQ/Ohio? Any insight on these lights they speak of?

I didn't see it. Let me find it and I'll be back. hf

Checked out the thread. These EQ lights are a real thing. I'm not saying that is what they are seeing in Ohio, but could be. 1dunno1

You can read about these lights here if interested : )

...Extinct versus dormant
Now the question is: are the volcanoes of Auvergne extinct or dormant!
Monts du Cantal
Vulcanologists all agree that they could wake up one day, especially as some of them were active a mere 7000 years ago.
This is very recent in terms of geology!
Another reason is that “the Mohorovichich discontinuity or Moho, the boundary between the Earth’s crust and upper mantle“ is only 20km thick under Auvergne (versus 35km under Paris).
They are also concerned that the coat “an intermediate layer between the planetary core and the crust of the earth” is at a temperature of 1300°C at 30 km of depth while the norm is 900°C.
Interestingly the hottest area is located under the ancient volcanoes of Cantal and not under the ‘youn’g Chaîne des Puys!
This being said there is no panic as the period of inactivity separating us from the last eruption is much shorter than the precedent period of inactivity as proven by the study of geological layers...

...the Cantal volcano represents the largest volcanic event in the Auvergne. Despite its modest altitude, only 1885m, the Cantal is the widest volcano in Europe with a diameter of 70km and a surface area of 2500 sq km.The Cantal Volcano is a stratovolcano which means that it was formed by a succession of different types and phases of activity in one general area. The activity began about 22 million years ago with a large number of Strombolian type volcanoes appearing through the granite bedrock, much as we find today in the Chaine de Puys further north in Auvergne. Little evidence remains of this early phase. About 9 million years ago a very explosive phase concentrated in the centre of the mountain range, created a first stratovolcano. These eruptions weakened the bedrock, whilst the summit of the volcano collapsed creating a huge caldera, much as you find today in Tenerife. A second explosive period about 6 million years ago created much of the central mountains you'll see on our walking holidays today, such as the summits of Puy Griou and Puy Mary
After this, hundreds of volcanic vents opened up away from the centre spewing liquid lava over a wide area. These flows created what are known as "Planèzes" - huge gently sloping plateaux which create rich grazing land...

...The Cantal Massif forms the most southerly extension of the Parc des Volcans. Still nearly 80km in diameter and once 3000m in height, it is one of the world's largest (albeit extinct) volcanoes, shaped like a wheel without a rim. The hub is formed by the three great conical peaks that survived the erosion of the original single cone: Plomb du Cantal (1855m), Puy Mary (1787m) and Puy de Peyre-Arse (1686m)...
