Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Re: Earthquake Thread ~ Always Updated Guys, I just matched this up with a few quakes I've was looking into yesterday. The ones on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge were at 46N, and then I was looking at some small ones in Washington because they were between St.Helens and Mt.Rainier, those quakes were also on the 46N latitude. Also they were on the 122 longitude, and 122 longitude is where pretty much every dangerous active volcano in the US that isn't Yellowstone rests on. Shasta, Crater Lake caldera, St.Helens, Mt.Baker, and Mt.Rainier & Glacier Peak rest at 121.... I think the entire continental plate is shifting south east, maybe why we are seeing the insane amount of quakes in Puerto Rico. The entire country of Japan shifted 8 feet in 2011 from the 9.0, and I think that emense pressure is pushing into us and moving the entire plate. Just think of how long exactly it would take to move 8ft in terms of seismic movement... 1 to 2 inches a year the SA fault moves, now going with 2 inches a year it will take 48 years for it to move 8ft, and Japan did it one day, in just minutes. Tell me USGS isn't hiding something from us, why aren't they bringing water into Cali, why aren't they waisting their "HAARP" to fuel some rain? I think they know at this point it would be wasted effort until the upcoming big one strikes. Indiana sucks....Don't move here. |

Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Re: Earthquake Thread ~ Always Updated Medieval Earthquake Moved River 12 MilesAn earthquake in 1570 changed the course of the Po River in Italy, new research finds. The Po, the longest river in Italy, has shifted northward about 12 miles (20 kilometers) between the towns of Guastella and Ficarolo over the past 2,800 years, researchers reported July 20 in the Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth. This shift likely happened in spurts, forced by quakes. The 1570 temblor caused a 4- to 6-inch (10 to 15 centimeters) uplift of the right flank of the river and resulted in a major one-time shift of the final portion of the waterway, according to geoscientists Livio Sirovich and Franco Pettenati of the National Institute for Oceanography and Experimental Geophysics (OGS) in Trieste. As a result of the quake, the river's delta moved 25 miles (40 kilometers) north, to its current position. [ link to m.livescience.com] ~*Ride the Wave*~ |
