Just wanted to check in before my acct runs out. Shortly after the last time I posted here, I got a notice from my cable-Internet co. that I'd exceeded my "data allowance". Uhmm, I'd never even gotten a notice that they'd started this "data allowance" thing!! I'd been told last year when I signed up, (the only company besides DISH in this area that you can get internet and cable from-and I wasn't going back to Dish!!), that I was signing up for a certain speed (one-up from the bottom), but had "unlimited data". They changed everything last month & didn't tell us-so I ended up having to pay $20 for going 10Gigs over my allowance AND I wasn't able to cancel my subscription here in time-so paid $10 for a subscription I obviously haven't used.

I increased my data usage for this next month, but until I can get an idea of exactly how much I'm going to need, AND whether it would be worth it to cancel ALL TV Access, I have to be careful. If you cancel the basic cable-you have to pay almost twice the normal internet amount-because they're the ONLY company in town and I don't have any "choice". (I had DISH internet out at the farm and couldn't watch video on the Internet for 2 years-except when I was in town for something & connected through free wifi at hospital/coffee shop/library/etc). I'm literally down to $8 in my account right now, so I cancelled my GLP subscription. I'll come back as an AC (I guess? Don't know how it works) when I can.

This week I have both an endoscopy and colonoscopy on Wed, (it's at my GI Docs office/outpatient surgery suite though and no wifi), BUT will also be going to the hospital for blood tests and will take advantage of the wifi there too. I've been pretty sick these past few weeks, so it was probably best I wasn't online much. ;). I tend to withdraw even more than normal when I'm sick-as my parents STILL scream at me (over the phone now-at least it's not in my face while beating my head against the wall or yanking my hair, lol), "no one wants to hear you complaining!"

Hope everyone is well, I try & check-in on occasion just to read-but it's usually during the 3 hours they don't count my data usage (between 2 & 5), and I know most here are asleep then.
HUGS to All!!

I don't know what led up to this. But it's live. I see a guy in the water in a tree line and a white truck half under water.

I've been watching it. The guy in the white pickup went around a barrier and ended up nose down like it is now. He was trapped in the cabin of the truck. These good people saw what happened and one guy swam out to him, kicked the back window in (because he lost the jack during his swim over) and pulled the guy into the bed of the truck. Rescue workers on scene now to get both guys out of the truck.

When the guy who kicked the back window in did so, the guy in the cabin was up to his nose in water. That citizen saved his life.

Ancient Volcano Collapse Caused A Tsunami With An 800-Foot Wave

Geologists think that the eastern slope of Fogo volcano crashed into the sea some 65,000 to 124,000 years ago, leaving a giant scar where a new volcano can be seen growing in this satellite image.

Some 73,000 years ago, in the Cape Verde islands off the west coast of Africa, a large piece of an erupting volcano collapsed upon itself and slid into the sea. Scientists studying the eruption believe the resulting influx of debris triggered a mega tsunami that engulfed a neighboring island 30 miles away with a wave of water as high as 800 feet. In a paper published today in Science Advances, researchers say that this type of volcanic event is catastrophic enough that, although exceedingly rare, should be considered by island communities when preparing for the potential hazards posed by nearby volcanoes.

Ricardo Ramalho, lead author of the study and adjunct scientist at Columbia University’s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, had been doing research in Cape Verde when he began to notice giant boulders strewn about the island of Santiago where he was working. These boulders are enormous, truck-sized hunks of striated limestone and submarine basalts that form near or under water around the island’s coasts. Some were located as high as 650 feet above sea level and as far as 2,000 feet inland.

“At the time I was puzzled by their origin, but it never occurred to me that they could be related to a megatsunami impact,” said Ramalho. However, after seeing a report of tsunami deposits close to sea level in a nearby bay, a massive tsunami event seemed to be the only realistic explanation. Rigorous field work and cutting-edge rock-dating techniques at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory confirmed the boulders were carried there by a giant tsunami caused by the volcano collapse 34 miles away.
