The earthquakes that have been taking place have been low period earthquakes based on the fact they are not recording properly with the SIL network (tectonic earthquakes almost always have correct magnitude). This is a sharp increase in earthquake activity in Bárðarbunga volcano. Currently nothing suggests that eruption is about to start, due to lack of continuous earthquake swarm in Bárðarbunga volcano. This earthquake activity however suggests that magma pressure is increasing fast in a magma chamber that is located in north-east part of Bárðarbunga volcano caldera. When it might erupt is a question that does not have any clear answers at the moment. At the moment the only thing that can be done is to wait and see what happens next. Earthquake detected at nuclear test site in North Korea, could signal nuclear testThere was no immediate confirmation on whether a nuclear test had been carried out, but past nuclear tests caused readings that matched Wednesday's event. South Korea's meteorological agency said the earthquake appeared to be "man-made," and China's seismological agency described the event as a "suspected explosion." In 2013, the state had just over 100 earthquakes, 72 more than the year previous. Then, from 2013 to 2014, the state leapt from 106 to 585. That’s an increase of almost 500 quakes in a single year. And now Oklahoma has broken that record.Last Edited by Simple27 on 01/05/2016 09:26 PM~*Ride the Wave*~ |
