Quoting: JazzyG Life changing moment! Quoting: Simple27 I heard a tax accountant on the radio tonight that said that if the winner chose the one time payout, after 40% goober taxes the take home would be $549 million. Now, it has to be split at least 3 ways. That huge jackpot sure got smaller quick. Quoting: JazzyG I'd be alright with $183 million ;-) That would give me SO many millions to help people who not only need it, but deserve it. I would be more than comfortable myself holding onto a few million or so, while continuing to work (although switching to part time). You better believe that if I was one of the winners, many of you GLP'ers would be taken care of. MANY. ~*Ride the Wave*~ |

Quoting: Simple27 Such a kind heart <3 Ticks me off that the goober gets to steal 40% right off the top and didn't contribute a cent to it though. You know they won't use that money to help anyone but themselves. To know where your heart is, look where your mind goes when it wanders.

Have always wondered what month was more likely to pop a large quake and decided to see what I could find. Nothing. At least nothing I could find to give me just some simple data. Being a little OCD on data, decided to figure it out myself. I listed all quakes since 1900 of 8.0 or above. There were a total of 95 quakes. Not going to list all of them here but if you want to see them here is the link: [ link to earthquake.usgs.gov] Here is what I found and I did list the 9.0+ quakes. Least number of quakes to most OCT = 4 JAN = 5 FEB = 6 JUN = 6 JUL = 6 AUG = 7 MAR = 9 // 9.0 & 9.3 Japan & Alaska APR = 9 DEC = 9 // 9.1 Sumatra NOV = 10 SEP = 11 MAY = 13 // 9.6 Chile Most number of quakes to least SPRING - MAR APR MAY = 9+9+13 = 31FALL - SEP OCT NOV = 11+4+10 = 25 WINTER - DEC JAN FEB = 9+5+6 = 20 SUMMER - JUN JULY AUG = 6+6+7 = 19 What does it mean? Spring not only brings flowers and green grass but the most quakes, including 3 of the largest quakes since 1900, two of which happened in March! May has the most quakes and also the largest quake recorded in modern history. October and January were the least likely to have a large quake. |
