Did I update this thread already? I hope I did but I don't remember...
First time ever with two since until now with SSD (single sided deafness) I've only been able to utilize one in my good ear that has moderate > severe hearing loss.
Ain't technology grand?
Quoting: CuriousSeeker If you did, I missed it. Glad you are getting the new one and you will have two now!!! Awesome Quoting: WhiteAngel Well, the second one is not really a full fledged hearing aid per se, since I am so deaf in my dead ear it cannot be amplified, but it is a transmitter. It sends sound from the left side to the good ear's hearing aid, so technically with the set of aids I am not missing anything and from what others have said, the limitations of SSD are reduced and in some cases eliminated. Such as: they don't have to pay attention to which side someone else is sitting on, they have to expend much less effort to hear, etc. We'll see how well I do with them!! Quoting: CuriousSeeker You will have to give us an update on how well it works! |

Thanks to my company's amazing insurance, I have hearing aid insurance for the first time ever (since 99% of insurance companies do not cover hearing aids at all). And it's paying around half with the amount they cover. So I am also getting a top of the line hearing aid too! A big upgrade from the one I am wearing now. |

Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Re: Earthquake Thread ~ Always Updated As of 3 p.m. Saturday, the top snowfall total from Jonas so far is 40 inches near Glengary, West Virginia. Totals exceeding 30 inches have been reported in several other areas of West Virginia as well as south-central Pennsylvania, northern Virginia and central and western Maryland. An extensive area of one-foot or greater snowfall has occurred from parts of northern Tennessee and eastern Kentucky to the mountains of North Carolina to New York's Long Island. Four of the "Big Five" Northeast cities – Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia and New York – have topped the one-foot mark; only Boston has not, and it likely won't. Extreme winds have been observed along the mid-Atlantic coast, with a peak gust of 85 mph at Assateague Island, Maryland, at 4:40 a.m. EST. Lewes, Delaware, has seen a top wind gust of 73 mph with sustained winds peaking at 59 mph. [ link to www.weather.com] |

NYC city mayor live on CNN now. He's really forcibly and being clear about enforcing citizens to get off the streets a lot more then this morning. In his own words; "we don't want to arrest people, but the NYPD will do whatever it deems necessary to clear the streets and enforce actions." Then he mentioned something about NYPD action teams being to be deployed. I didn't quite get all that. I also don't know what the means. Like to go force people home, or just extra cops out on the streets to be helpful? I hope he's just being dramatic so people take it very seriously.
