Re: Earthquake Thread ~ Always Updated
San Andreas fault produces earthquakes in response to tidal forces

The gravitational tug between the sun and moon is not just a dance of high and low tides: It can also trigger a special kind of earthquake on the San Andreas fault.

This phenomenon has fascinated scientists for years. Like sea levels, the surface of the Earth also goes up and down with the tides, flexing the crust and stressing the faults inside. Further study found that during certain phases of the tidal cycle, small tremors deep underground - known as low-frequency earthquakes - were more likely to occur.

"It's kind of crazy, right? That the moon, when it's pulling in the same direction that the fault is slipping, causes the fault to slip more - and faster," said Nicholas van der Elst, a U.S. Geological Survey geophysicist and lead author of a new study on the subject published Monday in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. "What it shows is that the fault is super weak - much weaker than we would expect - given that there's 20 miles of rock sitting on top of it."

And isn't it interesting the timing?

August 15-19th is coming: the second same five planet alignment of the
year, just like what happened in 2004. Except in 2004 the 9.3 Sumatra earthquake happened 12/26/2004 during the second alignment of that year.

I just got back home from a dermatologist appointment. I wanted to have a couple 'spots' looked at. One he froze and the other he said we'll keep an eye on. He then decided to look at my back to see if anything stood out. Immediately he says he wants to do a biopsy on a spot on my back (that I wasn't even aware of). :\

So I got scalped lol and will have the results from the biopsy in a couple of weeks.

What's freaking me out a little is that he took a pic of it and pulled it up on the computer so I could see it. It looks NOTHING like basal cell.

Always something...

I admire how good you are about tending to your health. You really are attentive to it. I think dermatologists are pretty quick to play things safe. If there is any tiny bit of doubt, they will remove or biopsy something to be sure. Which, with skin cancer, is probably a good rule of thumb because sometimes bad spots can present differently (some obvious, some seemingly innocuous). Anywho, best wishes for good test results and cheers to you for taking care of yourself!

I've been feeling pretty good for the most part lately. The fatigue is a b*tch, but some of the other symptoms have simmered down a bit. Blood levels have been coming back relatively good. Still having tests run, and running all over the place for doctor appointments, but I NEED to get/feel better. I just have to. I'm not done tormenting you all yet. wink
