Based on extensive research on 7.8+ quakes, I'm confident that extreme northern and/or southern latitude 4+ quakes precede them by no more than 72hours.
We already had the 4.6 Pacific-Antarctic ridge today earlier, the latitude was 65 South. That is fairly rare in itself!
If we see an extreme northern event today or tomorrow, that is a telltale sign of a very major quake about to hit.
Any quake that hits 65N -> 80+N latitudes is really dangerous precursor.
Typical locations to watch out for: Laptev Sea, Svalbard, Zevernaya Zemlya, Northern Alaska, Greenland, Jan Mayen Islands, Sakha&Siberia(Russia), Franz Josef Land

Solar Update / Coronal HolesGood evening. Solar activity continues at very low levels. The visible disk is blank once again as small region 2618 faded away. Perhaps some much needed excitement in the near future as enhanced geomagnetic activity, possible reaching minor storm levels will be possible after December 19th when reoccurrant coronal holes # 45/47 become geoeffective. More updates in the days ahead. Stay tuned to SolarHam.com for the most up to date information. Image below courtesy of SDO/AIA. NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory photographed the yawning structure on Dec. 16th: [ link to spaceweather.com] This is the same coronal hole that lashed Earth's magnetosphere with solar wind on Oct. 25-28 and again on Nov. 23-26. It is spinning around with the sun, strobing Earth lighthouse-style every ~27 days. The last two times we experienced its solar wind, intermittant G1-class geomagnetic storms and bright auroras were observed in the Arctic. A repeat performance is likely when the solar wind returns on Dec. 20-22. [ link to spaceweather.com] ~*Ride the Wave*~ |
