I was worried we weren't going to get our eclipse glasses in time, but according to tracking they should be delivered today. My youngest is 10 and I'd hate for him to miss this. We aren't travelling (eff that!) but we are in upper 90% for completion. Now we pray for a clear day! I hope you all have a great weekend! Quoting: mistersplinter How to Make a Pinhole Projector to View the Solar Eclipse [ link to eclipse2017.nasa.gov (secure)] Quoting: joinca This reminds me of a childhood fluke. Once upon a time, I covered my upstairs windows with cardboard, to block out light, and hang posters on. I would carve out certain sections of cardboard, to illuminate specific areas of a poster, such as Eddie's (Iron Maiden) eyes. Anyways, to make a long story short, once, there was only a pinhole in the cardboard. This inadvertently caused the reflection of EVERYWHERE OUTSIDE, to project on my bedroom wall! Needless to say, this inspired further discoveries. Light is an amazing thing! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75158292 Love this story! Also love that you aimed to illuminate Eddie's eyes! Classic! |

I think I'm allergic to careers Anyone doing anything fun this weekend? Quoting: Master of Nothing haha MoN, I'm in your boat. I lost one of my jobs this week. Position and program being eliminated. You may not know this (and others likely don't remember), but because it's so damn hard to find a decent F/T job in my field, I've been working 2 P/T jobs for a few years now. I make significantly more money that way, but still work 40 hrs/wk. No benefits of course, but it was a choice I had to make. Well, now one of those jobs is gone. The better paying one, of course, and the one I liked better. I have two weeks to close things out but I definitely cannot live on just the one so I have already put feelers out and have emailed some people to let them know I'm looking. I know what's out there because I never stopped looking, but I'm hoping one of my connections pays off and I can at least find something comparable P/T to supplement the loss, because considering the history, I don't see me landing an awesome F/T job anytime soon. The whole thing is fucking frustrating. I've been in so many dysfunctional work situations it's almost comical. I feel like there is a dark cloud over the career portion of my life. I'm actually feeling better than expected about all this. I was pretty upset for the past few days but once it finally happened (I had inklings, then confirmation, before I got the official notice), I felt better. Namely because I managed to say some very blunt things to the people firing me, which needed to be said. They don't care about the people this program was serving (their own employees), and the way this was handled on their end, which was disgusting and overtly disrespectful to all involved, was proof of that. Fuck those fuckers! I have landed on my feet every other time a job has been yanked from under me, and I will do it again. Oh, and no exciting plans this weekend other than some happy hour plans tonight. at least that's my only set plan thus far. I'm really just biding my time till Eclipse Day! :ladypower: Quoting: KickinIt Damn kickin'.. i'm sorry you lost a gig this week. That blows hard, and i feel for you. It also is 400 times further away than our moon, giving us the impression that both are the same size. Eclipses happen often enough, but it is the perfectness of the sizes and placement that make full solar eclipses special. No such thing as coincidences.. Everything, cosmically and earthly are in their respective, exact places for a reason.... these full solar eclipses give credence to that fact imo. |
