Sounds awesome, especially since I just spent 1/2 hour in 16 degree weather sweeping the damn street where the recycle trash guys shattered, and left, a whole pile of glass. Right in front of my house and the driveway. Bastards!

I'm still trying to finish off Xmas leftovers here! I'm actually getting a bit tired of short ribs, which I didn't know was possible. I'm going to have to freeze the rest.

Enjoy dat chili!

I think I would've seriously cried as soon as I saw the mess. That's f*cked up that they left it like that.

I wanted to fly into a rage! And the worst part is, I saw it when I was leaving for work, but I didn't have time to do anything about it then. Came home and of course the neighbors had done nothing (but bring in their bin), so I went out there and looked like a weirdo sweeping the damn street. People were walking by me with their dogs like WTF??
 Quoting: KickinIt

Yes, rage would be my reaction if it was warm outside. Crying would be due to this freezing cold. And a half hour out there sweeping?! It only takes 30 minutes to get frostbite out there. But the pain starts kicking in about 10 seconds in lol. Sorry you had to deal with that.

That gif! hahaha!

Well, I guess I learned that brutal cold doesn't stop me from raging! The difference is, when it's super hot out, I'll feel rage about little things. It takes more when it's cold out. In this case it's not even about the glass, or me getting a red, chapped face from cleaning it up. I just get tired of people not giving a shit about other people. Not caring that their actions affect others. That really grinds my gears.

Lemmy was such an awesome character and musician! He was known as one of the kindest, most gentle souls around - despite looking the opposite, which I loved about him. Literally everyone who ever came across that guy - famous or a random fan, said that about the guy. I saw his show here in Sept. 2015- which was his first show after he fell ill down at South by Southwest. That was the first sign something was very wrong. He definitely didn't have his usual energy at that show and he looked frail, but he pulled off a 90 minute show and vocally he sounded halfway decent (the guitar was shredding, of course). It was one of his last shows. Not THE last, but one of his final few. I'm so thankful I decided to go. I had considered not going since I saw him the last few times he came into town, but something told me to go.

I've acquired so many old time skills in the two years out here. I can catch a rooster, dispatch it, scald, defeather and gut it in under half hour. Though we do have a machine to take care of the feathers.

Not sure if it's a skill. But even to my surprise, I've shot and actually hit a mink in the chicken' lay house. They will kill all the chickens they can at one time. Unlike rats that just take one to eat. Minks kill just to kill. Also we can do rat control and be proactive on that front.

Plus one of the dogs is a great rat hunter, she is. She's the German Shepherd. It's great how she was trained to hunt rats, yet leave the chickens alone. Though I was told there was a learning curb. When she was young she got her fair share of chickens.

Nothing to do with not being nice. Just me reacting to your description of what you do with a rooster! And all the talk about rats. This is why I live in the city! Although we have our own critters here, as I've shared here. I love hearing stories about the country though - stuff like you're experiencing there is far from what I know. This is also why I love all of BigD's stories about his farm life.
