That would have been nice but not this year. I have never been to Vegas during NYE but have been there over the 4th of July. They had at least 10 different fireworks going off that you could see from the hotel room at Harrahs on the strip.

I am enjoying the conversation about South America. When we went to Antarctica the trip went from LAX to Miami, to Santiago and to Valparaiso, Chile. Went by cruise ship MS Amsterdam down the coast of Chile which is similar to the inland passage along Canada to Alaska. The ship stopped at the major ports and the tours were great fun. I remember German settlements in some of the towns as we went down the coast. The tour went down the Begal channel to Ushiah and then on to Antarctica. Saw the volcanoes that are regulars here with earthquakes close to Antarctica. Went on to the Faulklin Islands and then up to the brown river that took the ship into Buenos Areis. This was one of the best vacation trips of my life. It was also my Mom and Dads 60th wedding anniversary at the time.

Interesting, so how was the coast of Chile - pretty? That sounds like a cool trip. I have heard surprisingly great things about the Falkland Islands, I'd love to include that in my trip if I could. When I was in college I had a professor who, at the time, was considered one of the leading expert in the world on the subject of Antarctica. I learned a lot about Antarctica from him, even though that's not what his classes were technically about. He was an interesting dude.

We ran into town last night to pick up a kerosene heater. Wanted one just in case the electric ever goes out. I'm not particularly fond of the idea of freezing to death.

Anyways...hubs wanted to stop at Golden Corral for dinner and I felt funny cuz I was just wearing my old baggy sweats (for warmth). After we got inside, I saw that I may have been one of more nicer dressed. There were actually people there wearing PAJAMAS! Honest to goodness, santa emblazoned fleece pj's. And there was one woman who had on a sweat shirt and jeans so tight, the zipper wouldn't stay closed but that wasn't the kicker...she was also wearing a full length white wedding veil that skirted the floor! The weirdest part was that it didn't have any kind of crown, just draped across the top of her head like a towel. Looked more like a giant mosquito net...O M G

wth

I can't imagine what the veil would be about. Unless it was a wedding reception or bachelorette party at the ol' Golden Corral!

I'm with you - I have my limits on what I'll wear out in public, even if it's just running an errand. I definitely would not wear pajama pants out in public. Sweats no. You never know who you might run into, is my rule of thumb. Not that I get fancied up by any means, but I will always at least throw a pair of jeans on.

Glad you got the heater, that's good piece of mind. If the power went out, that would be brutal.

If any have a few moments, really could use some prayers and healing for my lungs.

When I woke up this morning, I was coughing lightly but couldn't get a deep breath at all. At one point, seriously, was scared that "this was it". Managed to get on the neb, which helped big time and was able to finally cough up a bunch of gunk.

Sure didn't want to croke on the last day of the year and the day before my 24th anniversary!

People have lost their flippin minds.

If the power went out, that would be brutal.

ikr! I didn't worry so much about wearing sweats to Lowes to get the heater. I mean, there are people there wearing all kinds of work clothes and half of them are dirty, so no biggie. It's just that kind of place.

But when work men in dirty clothes are dressed better than the customers eating at a restaurant, you know this world has lost all sense of decency.
To know where your heart is, look where your mind goes when it wanders.

A rock in bad hands killed Abel. A rock in good hands killed Goliath. It isn't about the rock.

A true warrior fights not because he hates the one in front of him, but because he loves those behind him.
