The jolt wasn't even big, usually we have a jolt then rolling. This time didn't get any of that. And yes, it was VERY short. Usually our EQ's seem like they go forever. The rolling or swaying usually continues after the initial jolt. In the Whittier quake the ground literally rolled, you could see it rolling toward you. In the Fullerton quake, it was a huge jolt then back and forth hard rocking. This was a different type of plate slip i'm thinking. Quoting: TrixieMama Seeing the ground rolling toward you sounds pretty darn intense. But what you say about this shake makes me uneasy. Quoting: Master of Nothing It was pretty crazy! I was in high school and had to walk home, the ground looked like it was ocean waves, 3-4 feet high, never seen anything like it in my life before or after that. It was almost like taking a sheet and pulling it up then down to get it flat on the bed. The lockers at school all flew open, houses fell. It was a horrible experience. This one has me very uneasy. It may have been enough to put some stress on San Andreas or Whittier fault line.
