Tomorrow (November 4th) marks another space weather anniversary. The strongest detected solar flare in recorded history was observed ten years ago. The X28+ mega flare took place around historical sunspot 486. Because the sunspot was facing away from Earth, the impact on our planet was minimal. Attached is a short video I put together two years ago detailing the explosion.
