Those other quakes in Hawaii have also been around Kilauea volcano - this one however is the first recent one to occur directly AT the volcano base itself.

I think you mean Mauna Loa. But yes, I noticed this too. I looked up the location because the depth was so shallow. I've always felt Hawaii isn't finished since Kilauea. It's been a while now and the experts don't seem to have any imminent concerns, but that island still seems restless to me.

There were quakes directly at Mauna Loa AND one at Kilauea.

Right! I know it's a very seismic area, but there's been fairly consistent activity at both volcanoes, and the south flank/Hilina slump still gets a lot of activity, although it's not swarming like it was there for a while.
