Hope it turns out well Isis! We actually ordered a dry rubbed, smoked turkey breast from a really good BBQ place here. It's just going to be 2 of us and we decided to cut back on the work this year by ordering the meat and just making the sides.

That sounds perfect KickinIt. I’m going to keep that in mind for next year. I was happy to find something different. What sides are ya makin?

Traditional sides - stuffing, mashed potatoes/gravy, fresh cranberries, green bean casserole and Thanksgiving slaw. I decided to make a different dessert this year that's easy to scale back, since it's just 2 of us. I'm making individual pumpkin cheesecakes w/gingersnap crust using muffin tins.

Here's the slaw recipe in case you or anyone else is interested. I think I shared this here last year. It was a new item last Thanksgiving and everyone loved it. It's yummy, and the cold/crisp aspect was a nice addition.

Sounds good, thanks for recipe. Where did you get the cheesecake recipe?

I saw two good ideas for sides on marion’s kitchen on Instagram.

1) Peel sweet potatoes, cube, set aside. Melt stick of butter til bubbling, like brown butter. Add sweet chili sauce (can find in Asian food section) pour over and coat sweet potato cubes, cover with foil bake 30 minutes, at 350. Remove foil, cook another 20-30 minutes. Garnish with spring onion, or green onion.

2) Sauté some bacon set aside. Cut Brussels sprouts in half, place in pan with rendered bacon fat, brown them really well. Pour water in, cover, steam for 15 minutes. Remove from pan, place in bowl, coat with sweet chili sauce. Add bacon back in can add almond slivers optional.

I like these cause it takes the usual suspects up a big notch.

Those sides sound great! I'm not a big sweet potato fan, but the words "brown butter" and "sweet chili sauce" sucked me in. The Brussels also sound fantastic with the addition of the chili sauce. I say go for it!

Here's the cheesecake recipe. Although in the pic they look tiny, the recipe is to be used with regular size muffin tins, although I'm sure minis could be substituted. I'm going to half the recipe, and that will give each of us a couple extras. The rest I'm dropping off to a friend on Thanksgiving Day for his dessert.
