Why Satire Articles Can Pass as Real News
It should give pause to the media and general public to know that the most outlandish, crazy accusations against our government leaders, when well written up in the media, CAN briefly fool many normal, intelligent people.

That is the point we have reached in this country, with these current occupants of government seats.

Yesterday it was the 'Obamacare applicants accidentally placed on national sex offender registry' computer glitch. I actually believed it until I got to the end of the article and there was an odd typo, a vague pun, the very last word in the article. I was gonna flesh that out after reading the comments. My thought in between is 'man, this is the kind of thing that could fuel violence.'

Within about 5 comments I found out it was a satire piece. Thank God!

Within the last week there was another one of these type stories, but I can't remember the subject of it now. No doubt the mostly savvy glp family will chime in with it on this thread. Please do.

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON? WE HAVE REACHED THE POINT OF THE MOST RIDICULOUS, DAMAGING, INCOMPETENCE IS BELIEVABLE. THESE PEOPLE HAVE THE POWER TO AFFECT OUR DAILY LIVES. AND THEY ARE!

One day they are going to step over the general public's line. I'm not sure where that is. But damn it feels close.

ALWAYS check your source and if in doubt, check its source too then look for corroboration from a seperate source-
accuracy trumps being first to break a story and repetition of a falsehood isn't proof!

good idea.
we should check on the bible sources because that book has all the hallmarks of a satire piece with the most outlandish and implausible assertions which people swallow as fact.
and it has never been checked for veracity.

You two are missing the point, and trying to derail the thread.

The point is as stated in the OP. Please stick with it.
