you captured venus. a tracking scope or even a gps phone with sky map app would've confirmed this for you. if u don't have either of these, ask around... i'm sure someone u know has one and can put this mystery to bed for you, when it reappears tomorrow night. many others question what they've filmed in the western sky, when using similar inexpensive digital cameras w/shit optics:

[link to youtu.be]

don't get me wrong... they've been here for a long, long time. what u recorded, however, has nothing to do with "them".

keep looking up & taping... you're bound to get something much more interesting, which can't be attributed to the movements of naked eye planets or man-made means of conveyance.

...

What kind of camera or phone did you use?

I've filmed the same thing from up north a month ago before the clouds moved in but it seems a little closer now?????
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 10502073

It's a Canon Powershot with a 35x zoom that maxes out at 140x. I bought it on Craigslist for under $200
 Quoting: in5d

Thanks... did you happen to attempt to identify the object using the Google sky app for your phone?

..if not will you tomorrow if it's clear out again at sunset please?

Take note of Venus in a similar time frame further south.

If you can get reference photos of both Venus and this object together if possible please do so.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 10502073

There's an article on In5D where I use a Stellarium image and mark the exact spot in the sky where I've been seeing this. I also have several other videos where I show on the cell phone app, SkEye, how this is not Arcturus, Venus, Antares, Jupiter, Saturn or Mars.... and that there's NOTHING on either Stellarium or SkEye in this area of the sky

OP I feel sorry for you destroying your credibility IRL like this. I was cringing the entire video.

Hopefully none of those people are not people you personally know and will ever see you again. Maybe your wife will come to forget about it at some point and slowly regain trust in you again at some point.

The patterns in the slow motion segment were fascinating. Almost a language of patterns and color. Much like lucid dreaming where our subconscious higher self is communicating with us. I got the feeling that this plasma craft was communicating. Did you see the pentagram in the pulsating patterns? Just like that hurricane a few years back.

Astounding!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 498050

Those lights could be communication. The camera can also self adjust causing the flicker effect. Lastly the gasses in the earths air bend light over long distances.

If its stationary it could be anything. If it's erratic moving with high speed turn on a still camera then you have clear evidence that its not normal.

Based on what I've seen there isn't enough to go by. Next time do the following.

1. Create a stable picture setup using a tripod.
2. Disable auto focus.
3. ONLY use optical zoom. Do not use digital zoom!
4. Map the sky. (prove it's not something explainable)
5. If you have money use a full spectrum camera.
6. Expensive overkill. Record multiple synchronized layers. (More then one camera from two or more perspectives at differing angles that intersect towards the same object.)
7. Take a few non-digital shots of the object with a high power magnification 35mm camera.

These things will cut back on distortion and camera shake. The fifth will provide greater detail in a wider spectrum. The sixth will provide distance triangulation capability. It'll also help mitigate false color shifts.

Basically if you're taking a synchronized video from slightly altered angled viewpoints then one camera shouldn't show red and the other show green.

If you want to be serious about recording this take steps to make your evidence easier to investigate. You say these have been appearing a lot. If I had the money and an opportunity to record these every night I'd take steps make my efforts appear with extreme seriousness.

BTW: most of what I said should be common sense to anyone who's serious about capturing these objects.

You know i am so sick of hearing that anything seen in the sky is "Venus"... lets get real here people. I have seen this exact same thing every night ( when not cloudy ) for the last 3 years. I have watched it faithfully because it is right out my bedroom window. My bedroom window faces the east and this thing is all ways on the east, south east sky. Same place every time/night i see it. It flashes red-white-blue-green-purplish and some times i think i even see yellowish in it. When i grab the binoculars.... it is very clear and plain it is NOT Venus. And at the same time every night ( middle of night ) if i am awake i lay there and watch it zoom off real fast any where between 4 and 5 a.m. So unless Venus has hemmy in it i do not think it is Venus... please put your heads together and come up with another line for this... it is not a star or planet X.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 48120779

Yep my porch faces east it's about mid sky
where a plane might be coming in but it's not
a plane it's always there flashing like its
trying to tell you something
I gave up wondering what it was

Sometimes people get directions mixed up like right and left.

Also some confusion with some people mistaking Venus who have not known that it was Venus. ..and perhaps a little dis info..

It's there, if you find a clear evening take a look.

South Jersey Skies: Watching the strange path of Venus

Some of my readers have asked me about the very bright star low in the southwest shortly after sunset. As they all suspected, it is the planet Venus. It's worth watching: over the next few weeks it will be following a strange path, as shown in Fig. 1. Let's find out why.

Find Venus – amazing and gorgeous – high in the west-southwestern sky at dusk now. The planet looks like a beaming, gigantic LED flashlight aimed directly at you. The planet appears brighter at -4.8 magnitude (extraordinarily bright) by month’s end. The young moon casually visits Venus on Nov. 6.

Venus ascending

Published Date Thursday, 10 October 2013 00:48 Written by Edward Gleason

"It's Venus."

We've been repeating that sentence quite often lately, for many people have noticed that stunningly bright light adorning the western evening sky. We expect to say these words quite often, as Venus will grow even brighter throughout the next two months. Remarkably, Venus will be even two and a half times brighter on the first of December than it is now. At this time, Venus will be so intensely bright it will even cast faint shadows at night, provided the Moon has not yet risen.

Venus outshines all the other planets and night sky stars. In fact, our sister world is the third brightest sky object, after the Sun and Moon. Many sky watchers often mistake it for a plane or spacecraft, as it is difficult to believe that a non-terrestrial object could exude such a light. One often wonders how Venus can always make such a spectacle of itself. Well, we understand that a planet's brightness varies due to four factors, two of which, its size and albedo, are intrinsic and invariable; while two other factors, its distance from the Sun and from Earth, constantly change. Examining these factors in greater detail will help us understand why Venus will always remain the sky's brightest planet.

When we observe a planet, we're seeing Sunlight reflecting off its surface or, in the case of a gas giant planet, its upper 'cloud' layer.

The closer a planet is to the Sun, the brighter it will tend to be as the solar radiation becomes more intense with decreasing distance. The Sunlight Venus receives is more concentrated than the the light Earth absorbs. Therefore, the reflected light will be commensurately more intense, as well.

saw this last night in the NW sky....I've seen it before too, over the past several years. I had to walk out back of my house to get into my car, I noticed it was there again. My husband was waiting around front in his car (I had to return a rental car). So on the way home, we're both in the same car and I asked if he had his camera and tripod in the car. He said yes and asked why. I told him about this blinking light. So we pulled around back, it was still there, got out of the car, and it was gone! That fast! Never saw it again last night. It was cloudy out earlier tonight, I'm going out to check again right now. If I see anything, I'll take a pic and post it. Thanks for the vid. BTW...does it feel like it's almost "watching" you? I kinda get that feeling.

what kind of a lame comment is this, frankly?

any defense for such that you consider viable?

didn't think so

argh

how in the hell can anyone on Gods Green Earth make a statement of fact in a bonafide nutshell such as you've just handed down in your comments above, indicating that there is nothing in the skies anywhere other than Venus in this particular regard or direction

LOL

that's the dumbest statement of blind hysteria I've yet to have come across

listen up pal

there are lots of things in the skies which may readily appear to be deep space planets, and yet may be well within our atmosphere only posing as such, or hanging around in any given area as does a satellite for example, wherein and by they can be seen locally but not so much say a few miles down the road for example

my goodness, you are dense aren't you?

all an object needs to do to appear to be thus is to gauge it's relative size with it's actual distance from whomsoever on the ground below

consider the possibilities my friend because they are actually applicable in no small measure in this case, and in any other under the Sun indeed

what is appearing in your general vicinity has nothing whatsoever to do with whatsoever may be appearing in anothers skyscape on any given moment in time...

when one of these beauties follows you into town and back you'll have the opportunity to grab your own ass by the bootstraps and maybe pull your head out just the tiniest little bit

and/or they'll have to call for the straitjacket which may well be long overdue in your case

the only constant you can expect from here on in is CHANGE

tl;dr

There is only one(1) very bright object in the low western sky just after sunset right now. Thats Venus, and nothing else. Theres nothing else even remotely close to being as bright as Venus right now in that area of the sky after dark.

Fact: Venus is very bright in the low western sky after sunset right now and for another month. So bright that it will in fact even be casting shadows here on Earth in another few weeks.

If you wanna prove me wrong, then go make your own video showing Venus, and then showing your UFO or whatever.

So far NO ONE has done that yet, because the object they are looking at IS VENUS.

Until you can do that and PROVE it, STFU and GTFO.

I have seen them both together, looked like 2 Venus's pretty much but far apart.. same part of the sky though.

Venus is not as close to the sun as this object...

false. Venus is VERY bright in the western-soutwestern sky after sunset. There is NO other bright object in the sky except for Venus anywhere near there. and its going to get even brighter.

This object is distinctly more directly west rather than southwest..

Truthfully I've seen them both simultaneously, take it as you will.

Not sure with your knowledge you would not zoom out and scan left and right to find venus and arturus, you leave the credibility open to doubt not doing this, when you showed sky app on previous video you only moved the app not the camera

I would expect any future video would would use the app, show the key suspects such as antares, venus and arturus on camera and in sky app, then 1 in same shot zoomed out ie is venus to left of your object

Curious videos you have but someone with experience such as you would know this is the questions that would be raised

lets see what comes next

what kind of a lame comment is this, frankly?

any defense for such that you consider viable?

didn't think so

argh

how in the hell can anyone on Gods Green Earth make a statement of fact in a bonafide nutshell such as you've just handed down in your comments above, indicating that there is nothing in the skies anywhere other than Venus in this particular regard or direction

LOL

that's the dumbest statement of blind hysteria I've yet to have come across

listen up pal

there are lots of things in the skies which may readily appear to be deep space planets, and yet may be well within our atmosphere only posing as such, or hanging around in any given area as does a satellite for example, wherein and by they can be seen locally but not so much say a few miles down the road for example

my goodness, you are dense aren't you?

all an object needs to do to appear to be thus is to gauge it's relative size with it's actual distance from whomsoever on the ground below

consider the possibilities my friend because they are actually applicable in no small measure in this case, and in any other under the Sun indeed

what is appearing in your general vicinity has nothing whatsoever to do with whatsoever may be appearing in anothers skyscape on any given moment in time...

when one of these beauties follows you into town and back you'll have the opportunity to grab your own ass by the bootstraps and maybe pull your head out just the tiniest little bit

and/or they'll have to call for the straitjacket which may well be long overdue in your case

the only constant you can expect from here on in is CHANGE

capisce?

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 48085629

...and vice versa.. no one has yet provided a clear photo of video with references at the end of sunset with a clear horizon proving it's not there.

'Til then..
