ISON in the Crosshairs-Update: ANOTHER X-FLARE & CME AIMED AT COMET ISON!!!!

There are two 50 megaton bombs implanted into Comet ISON.

The intent is to detonate on the opposite side of the sun from the earth. Coronal mass ejections are emitted on the opposite side of the sun from the comet explosion point or comet impact point. The CME would be directly aimed at earth. The sun will divert the CME away from earth.

I've been watching ISON's magnitude at this site: [link to theskylive.com] It went to 8.63 for a bit, than fell back to 8.70ish or so (can't remember exact number) now it's back to 8.69.

Does anyone know what type of flare generated the CME that took out Elenin?

Crossing fingers and hoping ISON is tough.

I have to agree with the bolded portion above. We were told, some time ago now, that "They" would be directing 20something Space & Terrestrial based Telescopes/Instruments at Comet ISON & the VAST majority of what we peon Civilians have been given comes from, IIRC, a very skilled amateur by the name of Bruce Something'or'other. They launch the Billion dollar flying observatory, out of, was it New Zealand or Australia?, & what have They shown us from that spendy venture? Yes, I believe that there may very well be something else going on. What? I do not know.

Well it looks like we're reaching the peak of solar maximum, or the second peak (experts say this is a double-peaked max). There is already a sunspot (1883) with a reversed magnetic field and we'll see more of these I believe as the fields flip. This causes a lot of outbursts before the sun settles into it's new groove. Also, some of the biggest flares happen on the downslope of the cycle, so we may have a lot of activity for the next year or two.

I've never studied or followed a solar cycle before this one, so I'm just observing and learning as I go. Even the so-called experts are often baffled by the sun's behavior, so this is really cutting-edge science now. This is the first Solar Maximum with the remarkable SDO satellites hi-resolution images so it's exciting to many of us amateur astro-geeks.

Thank you kindly man. It is amazing to me what we are able to observe and measure about the Sun from our little perch here on earth. To see a pole flip in real time is awesome.

To be able to detect reverse magnetic fields incredible.

If the sun is blasting at Ison, then it means Ison is harmful to life. The sun is a Good Parent. Belted Neat right out of the solar system. AND saw a comet get around Mars, and the Sun aimed, shot and dissolved it.

There's no accidents when the Higher Powers work and the Sun is something They work through, and connected to our Consciousness as well.

So if the sun is reacting, Good, I was waiting for that.

I can't find any info on a specific flare or CME that caused Elenin to disintegrate. Comets sometimes do that as they approach the sun. However, 3 weeks earlier we had an X6.9, the strongest flare of the entire cycle, and several big M's. Some of the articles on Elenin are eerily similar to the ISON scenarios. Like this one-

"So, for everyone who has asked, no, Comet Elenin is still NOT on a collision course with Earth. Neither are any of its pieces because, when a comet disintegrates, the pieces stay in the comet’s original orbit. Plus … Comet Elenin still shows NO signs of being or becoming a spaceship leading Planet X or Nibiru toward a collision with us. And no three days of darkness are expected around September 26 (“Will Bible Prophecy Be Fulfilled?”) as Elenin passes between us and the sun. What gets me is that both comets where found by the ISON organization, by Russians.

Umm correct me if i'm wrong, but haven't we been hit by X class flares dozens of times before? They do always for the most part, seem to miss Earth, but they've definitely hit us before.

Two 50 megaton nukes would be the same as throwing a grain of sand at mount Everest in hopes of creating an avalanche.

Yes, many large x-flares have been recorded from Earth or Earth orbit. Actually it's Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) which can be potentially damaging to folks here on the ground. Many folks get confused because often the two things are related, though not necessarily.

I hope so, Xibalba, though it depends on how bright it gets, but it should be visible by mid-November. But as it heads towards perihelion you'll be fighting with the glare of the sun. If it brightens and grows a big tail it should be visible to the naked eye.

What can CMEs do to people and structures on the ground? Will it come anywhere near the fried planet scenario at the end of 'Knowing'? (I don't think it's possible but what do I know)

A big CME hit would compress the Earth's magnetosphere and expose orbiting satellites to potentially damaging solar winds and radiation. It also cause electrical currents in the ionosphere which light up the auroras. Strong substorms may induce electrical surges on the ground. This would mostly affect large, elongated structures like power transmission wires, pipelines, railroads, etc. The biggest threat is to space assets and the power grids overload. There is some evidence that strong geomagnetic storms may increase the rate of heart attacks and strokes, but very little bonafide research has been done on biological effects.
