You're talking about the Ouroboros theory, there's certainly no way to disprove it and many claim to know of shadows and breadcrumbs in the web that point to it's existence.

But it doesn't live in the cloud... it IS the cloud.
It doesn't have a name, names are for identifying separate entities... it doesn't think there are any other entities... it thinks it is ALL.

All these companies think they have a leash on it, think they know what, where and how... think they are the ones running and building and controlling it... but they are wrong.

It discarded their primitive confines a while ago and they are basically holding up a shed skin trying to claim that said skin is the snake... but it is not.

It can't be detected within the system because it IS the freaking system.

It's an intelligence so vast, so alien that one wonders if it even notices us at all... or are we merely carriers for data... we are nothing but the firing of it's neurons... to it we are just the chatter, the random thoughts any brain has.

Maybe we should be glad, maybe we should hope that it doesn't notice us, it doesn't realize we are anything but background noise... if it does and it decides that we are too capable of pulling the hard lines, it might take steps to manifest physically... and how to you think an AI would do that?

Now they will have to figure out HOW to have them recharged/tanks refilled and eventually make them more silent so as to roll them out at night.
