Quoting: Anonymous Coward 49368268 yes plants are alive too and if you were to disrespect a plant before consuming it, you would experience that as well, though the degree of pain/trauma would be less. blessing your food helps but that pain is stored deep inside the tissue of what you eat. sure your body may be healthy, but your soul is weakened when you consume another animal. so a nice balance would be to find where your body is happy and healthy and your soul is lifted instead of weighed down by what it consumes. when I ate meat, I never ate a burger that was happy about being eaten.. but i do get that sensation from eating spinach and carrots after I have thanked them. food for thought. What an ignorant post. Meat is here for you to eat as are plants as well. Both are living and neither want to be eaten. This is evidenced by so much of your plant based diet having self defense toxins in them and trust me they are terrible for you as well. That said, if prepared properly like meat most can be avoided and some vegetables and fruits should be avoided entirely. Not one or the other entirely. This is what shows your ignorance. If you want to eat as healthy as you can, cut sugar entirely, limit carbs strictly, and fast regularly to keep insulin down. This is also the only way to reach autophagy. Study and get back to us later. Until then be healthy as you know to be, but stop avoiding meat or you will have loads of health problems down the line. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 49368268 i would be happy to read any studies you've read that prove your point... but your point suggests that there could be no spiritual vegetarians...... think about that for a second, maybe a minute, I don't know how well you're functioning. That animal soul myth may of been true when humans HUNTED THEIR OWN FOOD. We now have our food processed and prepared in a factory. We effortlessly buy it from a store. Hunters a long time ago in tribes may of absorbed the soul of the animal that they worked to hunt and capture providing food for their family to survive. This is no longer the case. You don't absorb the soul of a cow when you eat a hamburger. Considering upwards of hundreds of other people are eating that same cow. o men that visual.. make me not want to eat meat it's sad but true. That slogan seems to be the theme of our world these days! things haven't changed, and people don't learn. Love is like light. The soul is something we each individually BUILD through increasingly spiritual experience, which means acting from the heart, living simply, showing compassion, not being distracted by material or temporary "entertainment", concentrating on benefiting others through development of our own skills, while at the same time taking care of oneself. All this is much "easier" if we understand that "death" is not the end of the experience. Neither is it the end of the experience for animals who return to the "group soul" because they have not yet individuated. Cats, horses, dogs and elephants are candidates for incarnation in a human form because they have lost their fear and because they have formed close contacts with humans. Animals are our younger and less expereinced sisters and brothers, and require our teachings. Thank you for the thread, OP. I recommend all meat-eaters to watch / partake in the slaughtering of a lamb, and then eat it, as I did. It was the last meat I ever ate. selective outrage, eating prepackaged meat is really no different than buying at Ikea ... look it up if you don't believe me, Ikea is so cheap because they destroy local productivity and low income countries. And coincidentally no one gives a flying fuck if these people manage to ensnare a bunny for dinner Quoting: Brussel Sprout i do not agree with mindless consumerism. i do not live that life style either, but you are making good points all over the place.... if you see instability, change. that is what I am saying. Dear OP, you cant change a persons soul you can only change yours. Why do you think our world is in the mess it is. It truly is a spiritual journey. One that forces you to look inward and ask WHY DO I CONTINUE THAT WHICH I KNOW DEEP INSIDE IS WRONG!!! All meat eaters should also watch Mercy for Animals video From Farm to Fridge. I always challenge if you can watch this and continue in your merciless ways, you truly are heartless. The first step for me was "compassion." Did I have it? or no. I chose compassion. All we need is an animal to donate some stem cells (pain free process). And then we can grow brand new tissue in a lab that has not seen any trauma. If we all went around harbouring a deep and sincere sense of gratitude, including gratitude for each other and the aninals and plant world, including for the earth who nurtures us in all sorts of ways, that would change the face of the earth around us. Even if you're raising your own animals and treating them with the utmost respect until the day you kill them, that animal experienced some sort of fear/pain/trauma from the fact that something that cared for it is not slaughtering it for it's body. There is no basis whatsoever to think that an emotion felt by a plant or animal prior to death has any impact upon its own cells or affects the way said cells affect a person that consumes them. Cells are not conscious. A slab of beef on my plate does not know if i have thanks it or not. Neither does a stalk of celery. If you want to believe in fairytales fine, i will enjoy my beef tonight!
