My wife and I went to St. Mark's Florida yesterday night with a telescope and binoculars. We studied this object for nearly thirty minutes.
When viewed through a telescope it is half round like a Half Moon and the brightest thing in the sky, and almost as bright as the Moon. From my Mobius Sky maps program Venus is in a position where it should be waning or darker than this appears to be.
I have been an amateur astronomer for over 40 years and have seen nothing like it that I can remember.
