Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | New study rings alarm-bells for pregnant women using large amounts of acetaminophen based drugs such as Tylenol [ link to news.nationalpost.com] For pregnant women with headaches or a temperature, it is often the go-to painkiller, considered safe and widely used. But a new Canadian co-authored study is ringing a tentative alarm bell about acetaminophen and its impact on fetuses. Expectant mothers who take Tylenol or other brands with acetaminophen for four weeks or more are at elevated risk of having a child with developmental problems, suggests the research. Based on a large Norwegian health database, the study concluded that offspring of those heavy acetaminophen users were 70% more likely at age three to have relatively poor motor and communication skills and various types of troublesome behaviour. |
