You just don't get it do you. The Marines from day 1 instill the values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment. Each one of us who holds the title, realizes that we come from a long lineage of men and women who live by these central 3 core tenants. As a Gunny of mine once said, can really be summed up by "Do the right thing 100% of the time or die trying." He also made sure that every time we went out whether it was on the weekends for fun or out into battle that "We help those that can't help themselves." With the exception of the 10%, most Marines have this sort of perspective as they go through their lives. Because, the true weapon of a Marine isn't our rifle. It's our spirit, and that spirit once it's given to you. Whether at Parris Island or MCRD San Diego forever shapes how you interact in this world. This is coming from a Marine who served 231 - 235 years since it's inception, and this idea still lives strong in all of us.
