Fear not if you do not achieve reunification, for your efforts are genuine and ring true. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 47706286 It is quite a common scam to "find" (steal) a dog and offer to return it for a reward. Sick, but happens everyday. Disregard, I thought I read that you lost your dog. Good luck with your mission, it is a noble one. |

I'm in a bad spot, some one took a dog that may have been let out to pee, it got taken to another county then almost became road kill. I'm not letting this thing out of my sight, I need proof it's someone. I have been checking craigs list and nothing there. I'm good at research, this dog is not on the "lost" list yet, its only been 30 hours give or take. I've only had the dog 4 hours... I'm only human, it's my biggest flaw. We must all realize a sink a chair and a pillow are all luxuries of home and a soldiers helmet takes the place of all three. |

User ID: 40284727 United States 11/10/2013 09:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Not going to name the breed it’s a tiny dog. I contacted police, humane services, and wardens. Quoting: Chrit So one me my neighbors kids grabs this dog off the street, throws it in the car drives it 50 miles from where it was picked up to my neighborhood then let it out unattended for an hour and it runs away again, it’s a 5 pound dog and 45 degrees out…it would not survive the night, let alone the coyotes. Dog runs away again obviously, so the little kids are looking for this dog yelling fake names they made up. I’m about in tears as I know the dog will not last the night. Wife and I go out looking because the family that took the dog out of its home neighborhood are NOT looking for it. So the wife and I find it, pure luck and kindness from the guy who almost ran it over on the highway…it’s a miracle we got the dog back at all, I refused to give it back to the people who in my opinion “dog knapped” it then proceeded to lose it and almost kill it. Now I have someone's pure bred male unfixed breeding dog, this is a $1500 dog easy, it’s old, ill kept needs a grand in teeth work easy. Lot of medical issues, already taking it in to my vet tomorrow to see if it is chipped and check to make sure my pack is safe being around this tiny dog. No one has posted a lost dog of this type…I’m worried it’s a puppy mill male and was tossed out because of its age. How do I find its owner, the dog it very valuable, if I post dog found SOMEONE will try to take it for sure. this is Northeast Ohio What’s the best sites people post dogs to? I been looking for three hours with now luck, going to rest for the night but anyone has good links that people post lost dogs to? I’m worried I’ll find a liar who wants an unfixed male of this breed and will just use the dog again! I’m hesitant to post this even but I’ve found lost dogs before and always been able to find their owner quick, this is not looking like the case. Worried it’s an old ladies dog or as I said a puppy mill OLD breeding dog thrown out… I can’t return it to where it was taken from because no one will ell me exactly where it was taken! And it’s too cold to just drop a dog off on the street close to where it may have been taken.. What do I do, I’m rather upset.. I understand why you would be upset. Have faith that the vet will have an answer, if not Craig's List. Just limit the information to keep out the liars and cheats. Behind every myth lies a mystery, and every legend holds an echo of the truth …… Que Sera Sera "For not by numbers of men nor by measure of body but by valor of soul is war decided" Bilisarius " At the siege of Vienna in 1683 Islam seemed poised to overrun Christian Europe. We are in a new phase of a very old war." Gates of Vienna. "May we smite our enemies to the darkest chamber of hell, for we wish only to live in peace, and they desire only to put their boot upon our neck." |

Should have seen the fight when I got the dog and said no to the people who "dog napped" it and said your not getting it back, you already lost it once and it almost died. I'm exceptionally angry right Anyway, if anyone has any good lost dog sites post em, I’ll go through them all after the vet “chip” check tomorrow. Just focus and keeping him fed, warm, and cuddled. Don't worry! I will, I hope it does; someone has to be worried sick over this guy. On the plus side for him, he is sounded by three fixed “girls” and is attempting to have the time of his life. I hope this is just a good “vacation” for him to remember. Really glad it was you who found this poor guy Chrit. And if it turns out this pup had a lousy home, what then? Cuz what if you locate the 'owners' you still haven't an idea whether the dog was well treated. Anyway, with that in mind maybe you oughtn't advertise you found this dog and see who might come forth on Craig's List and then you could respond if they seem like they give a damn and demonstrate they are decent folk through an ad. Then think about it summore. Could be you are very good news for this dog if his situation wasn't so great. If his health is alright for your other guys, maybe you just have a bigger family now! :) Integrity is a rare find these days and you sure made me happy posting your story. Hugs to you and love to the pup too. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 24410859 United States 11/11/2013 07:27 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Sounds like you are doing everything you can do, Chrit, as has been said. Sometimes my local newspaper runs lost dog notices in the classified section. Considering the dog is a bit elderly, hoping it cuts down on the amount of people who might try to scam (sad, but true). Hoping things go well at the vet and he is chipped. Hang in there, like you said, after what he's likely been through, he's having a good "vacation" right now. |

(OP) User ID: 27088294 United States 11/11/2013 03:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | the dog was chipped at a west coast shelter, but never registered! The shelter only releases fixed dogs, this dog is not fixed. It’s not pure bread but looks very close. Called the animal warden, mind you this warden is that Ass who blew away those kittens with a shotgun a few months back, I do not like or trust him so gave him very little info. Thread: WTF!?!?!?! Ohio officer shoots 5 kittens in family backyard as child watches in horror!!!!! This is the 4th reported dog found on the same day/same description in that area, there will be others not reported to the warden. No lost dogs reported at all in the area like this, were about 48 hours in to it from what I was told. Full vet work up, dog needs a lot of teeth pulled. Going to run me 600 after the vet discount because my vet and I get along, would be about 1200 normally. Everything is taken care of health wise now. So we think this was a puppy mill male who produced very close to pure bread dogs looking like his main breed which were then sold for 300-400 a piece rather than the 1000-1500 for a registered pure Bread of the type. That the dog was puppy knapped years ago from this shelter 2000+ miles from my house, taken to Cleveland and inbred for cash. Then they either they lost their house or just could not handle the health issues and threw out all the puppy mill dogs in to the street. We know of 4 for a fact, I suspect that number is at least double if not more. Going to stop advertising him, we did take out adds, no luck at all and I’ll let the adds run their course. Going to just watch and see if a lost dog like him gets posted but the odds seem like zero at this point, but I hope I am wrong on his story and he does have a owner. The fact he left his shelter unfixed means it was not though official channels. Most likely they took a litter that was given up and tried to make money off it and failed. I did look up this type of dog for sale in the area, there is a person fitting the bill, not going to contact them. The last add was put up in mid 2012 I have the money to take care of the dog, if a lost dog add pops up in the next three weeks before the very expensive surgery he will go home. Other wise my pack just went to 5 dogs. I have the acreage and SqFt room in the house, no crowed at all. Last Edited by Chrit on 11/11/2013 09:43 PM I'm only human, it's my biggest flaw. User ID: 43658232 United States 11/11/2013 03:43 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Oh, Chrit. Amazing :D Ya know, the way I look at these situations is this: he is old, you are going to give him a tune up, you have the sqft/land, you can afford food, flea meds, deworming. And beyond that, God can take his course. No thousand dollar chemo, dialysis, etc. You will be providing him a far better life than he had and he will be so grateful. Hugs to your new best friend. He will never forget this for the rest of his life. I did this with my best cat and pet ever in the world back in 2000. Ole' Scrappy is still here and is sooooo grateful to me. Anonymous Coward User ID: 43500689 United States 11/11/2013 09:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I would NOT use Craigslist. The FIRST place a person would check for a lost animal is the local shelter. Call the shelters within reasonable radius of where the dog was found. Tell them the story but just say it is a small breed dog and give a general description- give them your number to contact if anyone calls about a missing dog of that description. Thank you for being a decent human being and caring about a creature that so desperately needed someone to protect and care for it. I pray that if you can not keep the dog that you will help it find its forever home.....someone who will truly love and care for it. That small dog could change the world for some lonely person. These small acts of kindness (such as you have exhibited) truly change the world. |
