Now This is a Statesman!!!
Not wanting to derail another great thread Cyndexia posted about the 72hr fix of the disaster called Obamacare, I thought it would be better to make a thread so I could post my comments about the man in the video below. I'm really hoping that you will find inspiration from this man's words as I did this morning. He's great with a cup of coffee.

Thank you Kumo for posting the video! Kumo's post is being reused from this thread: Thread: Breaking : Congressional Democrats have reportedly given the president 72 hours

If a team of medical experts were gathered to fix the system and right the wrongs of Obamacare, I'd definitely pick Dr. Carson.

If anyone has not seen this speech, watch it. He totally owned and pissed off Obama at this year's National Prayer Breakfast!

 Quoting: Kumo77

This man is someone who puzzles me and compels me to ask how one so well read could still be a Christian. There is obviously something more to this Christ thing than I've been led to believe. He isn't foaming at the mouth. He didn't insult me with lines like "you must be filled with the devil since you don't believe", nor did he mention Christ very often, but didn't you feel it? I could feel the spirit of Christ's teachings working in and through this man. Everything about him wishes to be more like the Christ. That's really powerful right there. Really powerful.

This is a man who I would be proud to call friend, mentor, President. His humility is, well, humbling! He isn't stupid, and he isn't any less powerful because he is soft spoken. He's ten times more powerful than any sing-song preacher or politician I've ever heard.

This, my GLP aficionados, is a Statesman.

kaffe Have a great day, GLP!

YOU, and only YOU are responsible for maintaining the balance of power between you and the rest of the semi-sentient beings in this world. You cannot disclaim or delegate that responsibility; it is a function of being a living, breathing "adult" in this world. If you can't manage yourself on those terms, someone else *will* manage you on their terms. Your terms are irrelevant. Buy a rifle; prepare to defend yourself. If you don't, what happens is *your* fault. Period.

Thanks for the bump, Battlesight Zero :)

I really believe that if more men and women like the man in this video were the pool from which we chose our elected representatives, America would see an amazing recovery in rather quick order. They use their faith as a guide and not a platform from which to manipulate or demand conformity. I respect the hell out of that kind of person. I really like this man and what he stands for.

Most Christians I know and associate this are absolutely NOT this type. I believe the accusatory and inflammatory holier-than-thou people are very much the minority Christians. You know, the ones on TV.

Most are humble and live by example. Many not even part of organized Christianity.

Dr. Carson is a good man.

Americans are too unhealthy for virtually any health care system to work well

What we truly have is a sickness of the soul that makes us sedentary and that causes us to poison ourselves with unnatural food and drugs

People need to take responsibility for their own health by stopping the consumption of poison (both in the chemicals we consume and the media we consume) and rotting away on couches, getting fatter and fatter and clogging our arteries with fat and sugar and filling our bodies with carcinogens and reality altering chemicals

Proper diet and physical exertion is the solution to almost all of our problems

What you say is true. BUT he will never be President because elections are fixed and the powers that be will never allow someone like him, with decency and a love for liberty, fairness, freedom and justice to rise to a powerful position.

Get used to it: if obama isn't dictator by 2016, Hillary will be the next president. They've planned it that way---of course I could be wrong because maybe their plan IS that obama will be dictator.... or one world ruler, maybe with Hillary presiding over the US. We can't see all the details yet. William Clinton already is in the position of the CEO of the UN here in the US. They've got their power positions already established.

Re: Now This is a Statesman!!!
as i watched him speak and making a fan out of me, i cannot help but take notice of how obama would react to the things he was saying...liberty, a nation under god, the wrongness of political correctness, solutions to taxation, healthcare, and educational system, the balancing act within both political wings, exactly the areas where obama is currently blundering, and i can see and feel obama's uneasiness. he was unimpressed, maybe jealous, could be irked. he was trying his best to look interested but towards the end he couldnt hide it anymore.

wondering what could be on his mind i playfully thought he saying that this other black guy is making sense, or that he's got the solutions i dont have, or this guy's subtly attacking me with his smartass solutions to my blunders, or that how could i become this smart talking almost 30mins without any teleprompter?

and what cemented my musings is that at the end of the speech, both guys never had the intention of shaking each other's hands. to me that tells it all. i am a public speaker and its customary that after the privilege speaker speaks everyone near the podium stands to signify their intention to shake the speaker's hand, as a matter of courtesy. obama never stood up, signifying he does not have intention to extend such courtesy, and the speaker saw that too and lets him be.

that's a smart statesman there. admiration to a fellow statesman.

as for obama, i never expected much from him. i expected what he did. the standards are at the lowest low here. even at the lowest level of my country's political structure, even in the smallest of associations and organizations, obama's actions are never done.

I feel that way about Ted Cruz, Allen West and few others...

The very saddest part is that the people who work hardest at defeating "statesmen" are members of their own party...

Republicans like Peter King (R-Seaford) attacks Rand Paul harder than he has ever taken on any democrat. John McCain attacks Ted Cruz but calls Harry Reid "friend".

Allen West lost his last election, not because of Democrats but because of the Republican legislature in Florida re-drawing his district and deliberately adding a big democrap area to it....West lost the election by a hair...

It seems that for both parties if you are not a "player" you are not going to last long.

We have not elected a "statesman" to office in decades. I doubt a real "statesman" could survive in today's Washington DC.
