Quoting: Hard Cell then you will not prepare and the outcome is obvious. Freeze dried is nice but your local grocery also has beans and rice, a long term staple. Powdered milk and canned milk have long life. You need enough stored food to get you to a harvest. The government used to have stored food, now we are global and have just in time inventory shipment. Useless in a disaster. I suppose you could live out the rest of your days underground or in a lead cube. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 43698054 Germany 11/23/2013 11:25 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | i like mountain house better. buy a case of #10 cans every couple of months. have plenty of rice, beans, flour, yeast, canned chicken, water, firewood, etc.. not stocking so much for shtf but more for retirement. employers not looking to give us oldsters a shot nowadays. this may be my last job so i'm stocking up on food now while i can afford it. house is paid for and have metals to convert to pay future property taxes so the sheriff doesn't come knocking to throw us out at the point of a gun. sorta like Aesop's Fable, The Grasshopper and the Ant. i don't see a thing wrong with prepping. anybody that has an ira, medical insurance, home insurance, etc. is technically a prepper too if you know what i mean. instead of prepping for disaster we prep for job loss and or old age. cool thing is if disaster does strike you've got a little something put back to help make it through. and yes i know a tornado could come through and blow your shit away. already been through that. my rock house took a direct hit by a tornado with us in it. the 2 foot thick stone and concrete exterior walls and heavy duty screwed down metal roof served us well. took some damage but our preps survived unscathed. figure the odds of getting hit again are kinda low. |

Just thought it was strange. :construction: I wouldn't believe Marie Osmond if she swore on a stack Books of Mormon. The old lady got that Nutrisystem garbage that Marie shills for and it was unfit for man or beast. It never tasted such horrible shit in my life. They should be thrown in jail for selling that crap. |

Dear Wrongtard; that is not true, in the event of an EMP they might melt down, they won't melt down due to 'lack of maintenance'. |

Dear Wrongtard; that is not true, in the event of an EMP they might melt down, they won't melt down due to 'lack of maintenance'. This was coupled with my "Mad Max" scenario post. If there is no one around to maintain the plants they sure as shit will melt down. Apology accepted. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 43698054 Germany 11/23/2013 12:29 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The Ant and the Grasshopper In a field one summer's day a Grasshopper was hopping about, chirping and singing to its heart's content. An Ant passed by, bearing along with great toil an ear of corn he was taking to the nest. "Why not come and chat with me," said the Grasshopper, "instead of toiling and moiling in that way?" "I am helping to lay up food for the winter," said the Ant, "and recommend you to do the same." "Why bother about winter?" said the Grasshopper; "We have got plenty of food at present." But the Ant went on its way and continued its toil. When the winter came the Grasshopper had no food and found itself dying of hunger - while it saw the ants distributing every day corn and grain from the stores they had collected in the summer. Then the Grasshopper knew: It is best to prepare for days of need. |

Quoting: Watching the world This is on every other commercial on Fox News here, at least during the day. Because food storage is part of the LDS belief, they made longer term storage a fine art. I think, but couldn't find proof, that Wise is LDS owned Here is another link that shows how they store up their foods.
