User ID: 37891955 United States 11/27/2013 11:57 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've got 2 dinners to cook for and attend. One is more traditional - turkey, yams, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie and chocolate pecan pie etc. The other is Hawaiian and on the beach - pork lau lau, poi, plus turkey and stuffing. I'm making coconut haupia on macadamia nut shortbread for that one. “If we are peaceful, if we are happy, we can smile and blossom like a flower, and everyone in our family, our entire society, will benefit from our peace.” Thich Nhat Hanh, Being Peace "But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you." - Job 12:7,8 "When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro." - Hunter S. The restaurant I work for is going to have venison on the menu soon. Anonymous Coward User ID: 41136650 United States 11/27/2013 12:26 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | We had goose one Thanksgiving. The bird shrank down from 20 lbs to about 12. Those honkers are greasy. Quoting: gr8gazoo We knew this old man who use to duck and goose hunt. He always soaked them overnight in Mogan David red wine. It was actually good and he said the wine took some of the game and greasy taste out. |

User ID: 50291311 United States 11/27/2013 12:55 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You can buy deer steaks, but you won't find them in a grocery store. Drop by your nearest local slaughtering, butcher shop during and after deer season and ask if there is any deer for sale. I have often paid the shop a quater of the deer for them to finish cutting and packaging it for me. I will even let them keep the hide cause I already have several, don't need more right now. That is where I will go to buy a half a steer all cut up and packaged. It is a hell of a lot cheaper, and as long as you fully cook the meat, no danger. |

The restaurant I work for is going to have venison on the menu soon. A Deer farm would be perfect to breed them and then let people either hunt them for free and the farm keeps the meat, or the hunter pays for his kill and takes it home. I never forgive and I never forget I am a licensed firearm holder. I will, under protection of law, use lethal force if attacked. |

You need to move to Maui Brief "In its mission of zero waste, MADHC plans to use every part of the animal. Hides can be tanned and sold, entrails donated to farmers for use as compost, bone ground into bone meal and used as a soil amendment, antlers can become jewelry and the waste meat can be made into dog food. MADHC invites entrepreneurs interested in being associative members to contact them about any of these eco-friendly donations and/or business opportunities. Some meat will go home with the hunters, some can be shared with the landowner, and at other times MADHC will invite a USDA/FSIS ante-mortem inspector and transport the deer to a recognized USDA registered slaughterhouse where it will be inspected post mortem to assure its safety for human consumption. Inspected meat will also be offered to the public by the cooperative at farmers markets and at a few interested Maui island restaurants and stores."
