Anonymous Coward User ID: 26615489 Canada 11/27/2013 10:37 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have noticed an incredible amount of people who have recently sobered up from alcohol, weed, cigarettes, party drugs, addictions, et cetera. Many of my friends (22 and under) are kicking bad habits left and right, specifically substance abuse. Myself included, the desire to smoke weed and cigarettes all the time just isn't as strong as it used to be, so I'm not sure if I would call it a feat of self-control. I know people sober up every day, but it seems like this is all happening in synchronization. It may just be people I know only, so I'd like some input. Quoting: The Palafox If you have also been noticing a sharp increase in this phenomena, please leave some stars, your story, or just a bump :) thats normal after the novelty of getting into liquor stores, bars and clubs etc on your own and then you go through another phase of drinking in your 30's when you realize your stuck to a job, a mortgage obligation, kids and unhappy marriage. |

I never thought I would be living the strait edge life, but its just not worth risking a good job to get high, and I lost my taste for booze years ago. Been clean for months and feel great! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 48055980 Welcome to the machine I risked. any great jobs because of smoking marijuana. But I believe I can do what I want, if you don't like it, fire me. I don't care. I don't want your freaking slave job anyways. Most coworkers are complete douches anyways, so it is about impossible to be sober near these imbeciles. Oh lord its hard to be humble when your perfect in every way. |

That's why you don't get married and don't take out a mortgage. |

User ID: 47347029 United States 11/27/2013 11:26 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | its seems like the hip thing to do right now. that way you can say hey I've been clean for XXX days, aren't you proud of me? are you going to congratulate me? are you gonna pet my narcissistic ego that needs stroked? look I became an adult and followed the "norm"!! fuck that bullshit, to each is own. don't give me this " the gubment" is pushing sobriety, they cant take that kinda loss in profits..be serious here. people have been altering their state of mind for centuries before us, and will continue to do the same in the centuries to come. playing the substance use is a sign of weakness card is a social problem. socially we look down on the people who choose to smoke crack or sniff coke while we roll our joints and drink our beers. people should worry about what they think about themselves before they begin to give a fuck about what others think. your here to live your existence according to how you want to, not by the way your made to believe is correct. and honestly if people are sobering up good for them, but I bet its got more to do with the cost of the products/substances they use, rather then the social implications of it. The first step is to establish that something is possible; then probability will occur. It's easy to stand in the crowd but it takes courage to stand alone Do i look really like a guy with a plan? you know what i am? I'm a dog chasing cars. I wouldn't know what to do with one if i ever caught it. You know, I.. I just do things. The mobs have plans. The cops have plans. They're Schemers. Schemer's trying to control their little worlds. I'm Not a Schemer. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 48914126 Uruguay 11/27/2013 11:29 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yep, certainly. More and more of my friends are starting to ditch alcohol/smoking and taking up running and sports, healthy food and even more are preferring weed to like cigarettes/alcohol. So I can feel the change coming! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 50658067 Smoking weed does not equate a trend to sobriety I think his point was that they're using weed instead of tobacco\alcohol. There's a perception among drug addicts that weed is healthier than other vices, it's a very strange rationalization. Do you even research bro? Cigarretes deaths - Millions Alochol deaths - Millions Weed deaths - 0 Youre the one not rationalizing, probably you have been too much programmed by the system. |
BRIEF
User ID: 39607259 United States 11/27/2013 02:09 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This. After working around my house cutting grass or what ever, nothing like having a cold beer and cigar on my back porch. Nothing feels better than couple blunts and a pack of 12 beers after work. I never forgive and I never forget I am a licensed firearm holder. I will, under protection of law, use lethal force if attacked. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 48055980 You're dead inside and DEPENDENT on the system Cant argue with you that I am dependent on the system, as it dictates my life(work 10-12 hours a day 7 days a week, but I make very good money with no time to spend it) but I am hardly dead inside. In fact, I feel more alive then ever! |

If y'all are mad at me for not taking drugs anymore, then so be it. I now know myself better than I have ever before, and am also more awake then ever. Cant deny though if herb was legal I would occassionally partake. |

Go ask some of these 16-25 year olds if they've hung out with 'Molly' lately. Also, the new addiction these days is a little square piece of shit that sits in your pocket that happens to have a magic little screen you can touch and make language appear on someone else's special little brick in their pocket. I went to the mall last night and the amount of people staring at a little screen still baffles me. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 20929955 Some nights I sacrifice virgins to the EMP gods. Yes! That is an addiction that I'm trying to break, and others just accept it as part of our generation or our age. As technology becomes more capable, humanity becomes less capable, we must destroy the iPhone to save humanity! Whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. |
