A good idea when easily communicated is more powerful than any bullet. Everyone makes grammar and spelling mistakes, but for people not aspiring for improvement of their grasp of language is insane. It is like these people have never read 1984 and understood what newspeak was about and leads to. See that? I just corrected your some of your most basic grammar mistakes. You can do better! You did little better. What are you trying to prove anyway? That bad grammar is ok? That you are smarter? I think the point here is that black ebonic students must be held to account to the same degree as white students. All of us who have been through college are well aware how stringently writing is taken. And why shouldn't it be? Should we as learned citizens not be masters of our own language? I doubt that "black ebonic students" have anything to do with this. Why do you think that? The OP link doesn't make this a black / white issue, and a UCLA article says there were about 25 graduate students of color participating. A photo shows about 7 of them, and they appear to be white Hispanics, except for an Asian, a black and a white. Notably, the white appears to be taking a cell phone camera picture, while the black is the only one actually reading an apparent handout/flyer, which several of the grad school students are holding. [link to dailybruin.com] The article also provides the names of the organizers and participants, and they look to me like Spanish-origin names. In California universities, racial affirmative action is forbidden by state law, and there are not many blacks in the UC schools, especially at the graduate level, relative to many other states. School is not a place to learn ANYTHING. It is a place to get your little certificate, showing that you already learned -- through a process not well understood or described-- more than was expected. Everybody, including the people reading this AND the complainers described in the thread, needs to be committed to non-stop job-skills acquisition and self improvement. In some -- not all -- parts of the world this is well understood and accepted. NOBODY can save you: not democrats, not Santa Claus in Washington, not a college degree in progressive mythology. *YOU* save you and yours. |

In that respect, very little has changed in this country over the past 200 years. The Democrat Party still presides over failing schools, failing policies, failing communities and has stoked the social chaos that has led to the virtual evaporation of the black family. The yoke has just been transferred from the plantation slavemaster to the politician and the university academic, who now achieve the same sinister ends via pseudo-benevolent mechanisms such as Affirmative Action and the lowering of social and academic standards. The result is the same. A significant percentage of America's black population STILL finds itself shackled, wanting and indebted to those who are most responsible for the degradation of their condition. It is a disgrace. NOTHING will improve in the black community until their self-anointed "protectors" cast aside the soft racism of low expectations and begin to hold blacks accountable to the SAME social and academic standards as the rest of society. People that can read and write are dangerous to the overlords! And the scary thing is, that newspeak is absolute reality. It's just called "politically correct language". Of course illiterate masses are easier to control simple because they are not smart enough to realise that they don't have to sheeple. That is why "Higher Education" is increasingly coming under attack for informing the masses how to think and act on their own, without the constant drone of government controlled "social networks" telling them how to think, act, and what to buy. I pity the day that the net goes down, We will become a country of idiots that don't know how to care for themselves without having a constant voice telling them what to do, what to think, where to buy, who to see, who they must worship, when to eat, when to sleep, and when to die because they are a waste of resources better use by their superiors. |

That's why the elites want a mongrel world to rule over. The primitive races always long to go back to their original state. Even those which are educated in the Western way and apt in it, deep inside have a longing to destroy all its progress. Only the white races in their original form have in them the unquenchable aspiration to rule over nature. This is undeniable as for thousands of years before meeting each other the primitive races rejoiced in nature unmolested while the whites struggled with an unstoppable will to rule over it. The mix of these races creates an inner conflict which results in entropy. Mongrel peoples while in a majority state and unsupervised by white administration inevitably degenerate into chaos. However with the right programming the primitive races and their mongrel derivations pose no threat to a well made control system and their elite creators. However what these elites don't take into consideration is that while these races won't give them as much competition for hegemony, they won't be able to maintain such a beautiful world for them to enjoy as they do now. I guess they're planning to remain in their own private countries and allow the mongrel slaves to keep their goods and services being produced. They aren't that smart. Cunning is not smart. The NWO will result in a dark age. Government is a body largely ungoverned. |

Affirmative action is the only thing that keeps blacks around in school and in many jobs. Still they should not get this benefit just for being black. Plenty of whites have lower ability too, we all have our strengths and weaknesses. I agree, abolish affirmative action. According to professor emeritus Val Rust, the entire controversy arose from his effort to instill in his students a higher grammar proficiency. Makes sense. If they don't understand the correct use of grammar, why would we expect them to understand the definition of 'racist'. The word 'racist' has just become one of those words that young adults use out of habit. Remember a few years back when the word 'random' was in vogue? Don't worry, in the next month or so it'll be some other word. |

What puzzles me is why she would not use standard English with a white male prof., if the only thing stopping her was having to "battle other blacks".
